  1. Same here - if its lower than my stipend it just goes towards my minimum funding and they provide a super tiny top up (for all awards not per award). If it exceeds my funding then it they just no longer fund me. If I have other awards typically those awards are reduced if I received other awards over a certain amount. All of the stipulations will be listed in the award terms and your funding contract from your school, but straight stacking is unlikely. i.e., I have one award for $15k/year for X years, I can stack that on top of my stipend funding (due to the award conditions), but if I get CGS-D it is reduced to $5k/year. So it is NOT $15k(award) + $35k (CGS-D) + $20k (min funding) - it would be a total of $35k (CGS-D) + $5k(top up from other award). - Clear as mud? It is different for every department and every award so impossible to give you an exact number!
  2. mmmm anxiety. So you think this strike will impact their timeline to release decisions? Do you think our schools know and could at least tell us so we are put out of our misery??
  3. Yea I saw that, I assumed the date was the same for all councils and was in years prior too? Frustrating that it is so late!
  4. LOL truer words have never been spoken. I have managed to do about 3 paragraphs of writing only.
  5. the amount of extrapolating and mental gymnastics I'm doing right now rivals a circus. I was chilled out enough to wait until next Tuesday and I'm now on refresh mode.
  6. Are the schools notified of the results also? I got a very strange email this am that said "as a current CGS award holder you may qualify for...." quickly followed by (like 5 minutes later) an email that said they'd pre-emptively sent that out and it was from their list of "pending results" and so now I am clearly looking too far into this. Would the schools get notice ahead of the applicants or do they learn about the awards at the very same time the notices are released on our research net?
  7. Can anyone provide some prior stats on CGS-D for CIHR? As in how many applications are forwarded, how many awarded? I seem to find this info for SSHRC no problem, but I have no idea what the odds are simply based on numbers at this point and I'm beginning to obsess over it. Also, I see SSHRC has multiple committees that evaluate different research areas/disciplines. Is CIHR like this too and they have separate committees so there are X number ranked and only Y are awarded and i'll know my ranking within the committee? Or is my ranking going to be CIHR-wide?
  8. Take it. There is zero guilt in accepting the accolades and awards that you earned. You do not need to feel guilty or that your are defining your happiness or value by money - you are not. You earned this award. You may not feel proud/relieved/happy right now because things are heavy elsewhere...that is OK too. You don't have to feel anything at all. But do not decline it out of morality/guilt/shame - that is the heavy part talking right now. You can take it and feel numb right now even, that is fine - you earned this and you deserve it - it was determined by a committee that you deserve it, so do not tell yourself that you do not.
  9. saammmmmeee The refreshing i've done on this thread the past few days is hilarious considering I'm not an applicant haha
  10. How do you know the exact date?? 26 hours to go? Is it released at the same time as CGS-D? My school only lets us apply for Vanier after our first year of PhD, so I've only applied for CGS-D right now...anxiously awaiting that but I had assumed they'd be released at the same time.
  11. I have not heard this - I don't think so? Because the decisions are done right at the agency level (CHIR, SSHRC, NSERC) I don't know how they would gain access to that info before being released on our portal?
  12. Not until the end of the month I think? I've heard April 30 is the expected by date? Bummer, was hoping to hear by April 15
  13. Those that heard back from Calgary - was it an auto generated email or did it come from the program administrator?
  14. Congrats, good luck! Care to share the initials of the PI?
  15. I'm thinking early february based on previous years
  16. I can confirm there are NO formal interviews for MSc admits at Calgary, only for PhD
  17. Calgary - PhD program, unsure if they are doing it at the MSc program
  18. Invite for interview today for PhD
  19. I am applying for CIHR CGS-D this year - and the process is very different from the CGS-M CIHR it appears! Quick question because maybe I am misinterpreting things - where are your including your research proposal with references? I see that there is an abstract that is limited to 2000 characters (including spaces) as well as an attachment for a summary that is max 1 page - which is a new way to propose things (summary?! What does this mean?!) - but where do you attach references for your proposal, or are you just not referencing anything?
  20. How would you see your decision up to a couple of days before? Or do you mean just see that the status changes up to a few days before and sometimes not even until the day before?
  21. U of C MSc in SACP acceptances and waitlists went out yesterday I think? I'm in the program now, and cohort students were talking about some people they know getting their emails. Last year the MEd program was after the MSc - not long after, but definitely not the same day either. Good luck!
  22. I heard of a few people getting their acceptance or waitlist notifications for the U of C MSc program just today. Unsure about the MEd program.
  23. Replying isn't going to go back to any POIs this is likely a program administrator, so don't be worried about your reply influencing impressions right now. Just reply factually, that you have checked and confirmed that the transcripts were received, can the individual please investigate the error on their end and let you know what the problem is and next steps?
