  1. Honestly, decide based on how your research interests fit with those of the faculty at each institution, location - does the city have things you want to do, food options, airport access, etc - and how it feels. Allow some of the intangible/vibey things to help eliminate schools as well.
  2. I committed to the university of Florida after weighing offers from UF, USD/Sanford, Wake Forest, and a waitlist spot at UNC-CH. :) I'm really happy with my decision and am so excited to start this summer.
  3. Woah!!! Congrats! that's amazing... and a little disappointing for me since I didn't apply ? I spoke with their recruiter and she said that i'd likely have to complete the coursework I was missing the summer before starting in the program. Are you going to Mayo? any other offers? I'm also from MN so if you've got questions on life up north feel free to send me a PM.
  4. I got an interview invite from UF's Neuroscience program on 12/21/21. Best of luck with the apps!
  5. University of Nebraska Medical Center is still accepting apps until Feb 1st, i think. Their program coordinator is super helpful and offers appointments for questions via zoom. I applied there and am waiting to hear back. They do two rounds of interview invites - one after the Jan 1 deadline and one after the Feb 1st final deadline.
  6. Nice!! I'm hoping to hear back from them soon. Still waiting on both Cali & FL campuses for Scripps. Applied: UNC BBSP, Duke Neurobio, Wake Forest Neuro, Scripps, University of Florida, UColorado Anschutz, Dartmouth, Univ MN, and UNMC. Invited: UNC BBSP (12/19/21), UF (12/21/21), Wake Forest (12/22/2021) Rejected: Accepted:
  7. I applied to the Neuroscience Concentration on December 31st. I haven't heard back from them yet.
  8. Also, Mayo Clinic requires 2 semesters of Calculus and 2 sems of physics - which i found out when I was in the process of applying and had to drop them from my list ?
  9. Don't sweat your ug GPA too much. They'll primarily look at your MSc GPA when you're applying as it's your most recent academic credential and shows your hella strong potential for graduate level work. For your 3rd LOR, I'd highly reccomend using the PI that you worked with in UG as not having a LOR from a research mentor will likely be seen as a red flag. Good Luck! let me know if you want someone to peek over app materials when you get to that stage.
  10. Undergrad Institution: Small liberal arts college Major(s): BA's - neuroscience, biology, & Religion. Chemistry Minor. (I'm a 5th year senior) Overall GPA: 3.6 Major GPA: Bio: 3.4ish, neuro: 3.8ish, Religion 4.0. Type of Student: Domestic, white male GRE Scores: Not taken / none required. Research experience: 1 summer REU, ~3 years part time at my institution on biochemistry and neuroscience questions. no publications. Other experience: Work as a Contact tracer for my county's COVID-19 response, did an internship on vaccine hesitancy, and TA'd for a few undergraduate biology/biochemistry courses (no lecture responsibilities) I applied to the following neuroscience / biomedical sciences phd programs: UNC - Chapel Hill, Duke Neurobiology, Wake Forest Univ, Scripps Skaggs Grad School, University of Florida, UColorado Anschutz, Dartmouth, Univ MN, & Univ Nebraska medical center. So far, I have interview invites from UNC, Wake Forest, and UF. I haven't had any rejections thus far. Cautiously optimistic and looking forward to seeing what happens. I got UNC's invite on 12/17, Wake's on 12/20, and UF's on 12/21. Has anyone heard anything about Scripps, Duke, or UMN?
