I also haven't heard a thing from NYU and saw many people got rejections. Just as confused!

Definitely contact the students for this info! Quality of research is great at both institutions. But ask students whether they're happy, and ask for data from the program on what students do after. Contact alumni as well to see if they're happy with the training they received

I submitted mine 11/30, so literally the day before it was due. I know someone from last cycle also applied the day before and got an interview in early December. So at least last year, they didn't do it that way

I am also waiting to hear from them (dying inside), but I spoke to a student I know there and she said this weekend is the first interview weekend, and the second interview weekend is about a month from now. So, I imagine they still are sending invites? I hope so anyway!

Waiting on Penn NGG and I'm going crazy, anyone know anything? It seems in years past there were two interview weekends (Jan and Feb) and invites were sent out in December and early January, so it should be any day now that second round interviews come out (last year was 1/5). I hope this is still the case!

I got an interview for UPitt a few days ago! But I also haven’t seen any others on the results page. I imagine they are rolling invites?
