It will be real people at every "station". I think I remember reading that they may be in the SLP profession or may not be, they may be an actor/ person we role play with. They also may have a follow-up question to our answers.- 1,373 replies

Wondering if anyone has taken Anth 354 Language and culture (from Athabasca) for their Linguistics course?? If so, how did you find it to be and what was the exam like? I'm feeling a bit nervous about it because I've never done an online exam before, and also don't know what to expect content wise- I feel like this course is kinda all over the place! Any insight would be so much appreciated!!- 1,373 replies

I checked in with McMaster (3 calls and 2 emails later) turns out they made a mistake! They received my lower sGPA that was not updated yet, so it took me out of the running. McMaster said that ORPAS was way late updating it so they did not receive the correct sGPA... Either way, they assessed me at my correct sGPA and I got an interview! I am so glad I followed up with the school, thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement!!!!! Goodluck to all my fellow MMI people, and to everyone else in their applications!- 1,373 replies

Hello again friends! Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat with McMaster applications? I have a sGPA of 3.87 (had to harass ORPAS to update my grades as they were recorded incorrectly initially, got updated finally on Feb 14th) and have not received any emails about an interview or waitlist... I am assuming this may be because I am currently completing a pre-req? Though part of me wonders if this is not the case and that my grade was updated too late and that's why I didn't make the cut-off initially? Does anyone know if McMaster does not accept people because of the fact they have a pre-req in progress, regardless of a sGPA above 3.85? Sincerely, a hopeful but also defeated applicant.- 1,373 replies

Hello! I ran into the same, where my second (year) average was calculated, not the last semester of second year, on the ORPAS website it reads, "Where course grades/lengths must be extracted from a grouping/duration to make up the 20 course grades/lengths required, the average of the next grouping/duration of ORPAS GPA values will be used. ORPAS does not separate semesters, and so if an average must be used, it is from the fall and winter durations combined, as this is considered an academic year." Hope that helps, and best of luck!!- 1,373 replies

Hey all! For anyone who completed practicum(s), were yours included in the GPA and SubGPA calculations? Mine weren't and it has influenced my calculations significantly, as it required the average grades of my second year courses to be included to make the 20.0 credits... With the practicum grades included I'd be at a 3.87, currently without the practicums included I am sitting at a 3.69 (My second year was a doozy lol). On the ORPAS website it mentions, "We include all courses and marks, including failed, incomplete and supplementary courses, academic practicums (even if a portion of the course has a placement aspect) and courses extra to degree requirements, in the GPA." I'm a little confused seeing as they say they include practicum courses?? I have sent a message through SAM, but wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?- 1,373 replies
