Spent half of today researching flights. My cheapest round trip option is a bit over $1000 and >24 hours each way due to layovers. I currently only have one U.S. offer, so I can't combine reimbursements from various schools. Oh dear...

I'd say that everything is probably fine with your application and they simply did not update the online status of your application. However, to be on the safe side, you could call all those departments up and double check. You actually have a legitimate reason to call them.

I totally understand. I need to fly across the Atlantic as well. I am about to (seriously) exceed the reimbursement limit, so I will ask my department about this. I am wondering how common it is to attend/ choose not to attend such events (i.e. optional visits for already admitted students)?

Are your travel costs potentially exceeding the reimbursement limit of your department? Any concerns or worries regarding this visit? Did anyone turn down the offer to visit and, perhaps, you wouldn't mind sharing why?
