that would be nice. as far as talking out of one's ass, this is where some of my best thoughts come from. -

this very much one of my motivations to starting this discussion. wouldn't exactly that type of hypothetical agent know about NWP and its attachment to Michener? so would there be a difference to them? why or why not? and besides the package, what's the difference to us? -

but there are only, what, 25 admits to iowa at all? and that's the holy grail. this year there are multiple admit posts fropm schools with far smaller cohorts. i also figure most of the people who are just applying to their local programs or applying because that's what you do after college, aren't on draft; but most who are in this for all the marbles and have been researching programs for a few years, are. yeah but most of the schools on draft are prestigious. i do tend to think it's a toss up but less so the higher the rep of the school. then there are those evil people who post in the forum but not the spreadsheet. where do you (and others) find out these numbers? i can't find my ass with both hands and a map. -

People, can we talk about Michener and NWP? what are the actual differences? same faculty, same university, different offers. other than that, what do we know? Are NWP cohorts prohibited at Dobie? Are there different guest lecturers? What of the course requirements? (I feel like i should know this one but if i ever did, i've forgotten) What about reputation in the business; do agents, publishers, and universities looking for instructors figure they're the same? post any answers or questions because i, for one, have been wondering about this for a year or two. -

I've been thinking about this a bunch. there are over 1300 members of draft. not all are applicants but i would say the overwhelming majority are. the fact is there are only so many programs (Anyone know how many) at least 350 and i've heard as many as 500. consider that very few people apply to only one, that there are already well over a thousand responses on the spreadsheet, and that half the well known schools haven't responded and you start to think there's at least a bit you can glean from draft. also, there's a lag. people are STILL only now learning about draft and being admitted there. it's the waitlist odds people would pay money for. -

It is never too early to ramble about math. I've been mathing this stuff out since before i applied anywhere. it's fun and frustrating and fun because it's frustrating. Is that what golf is like? are you in the city or on the island because commuting provides time to grade papers and even work yourself. you can factor an hour a day into your time math. it isn't all money math. of course, you have to figure the commute cost into the money math. and don't forget scheduling (I forgot to ask about that for FAU). If you're only commuting three days a week vs five, things change a lot. ooh. I'm excited for you. Do the math. Thanks. My math says something's up. no rejection, no waitlist, no acceptance. -

It certainly puts things in perspective but I'm a bit troubled by the loss of interest in "these applications". For those that have already gone out, what will come will come - the die is cast. but if you are still applying, please remember, you will live with your grief for some time but it will become manageable before the fruits of many present labors. it's hard during a time of loss to keep going to work, paying the bills, doing what you have to. i feel you. -

UCI is still the choice but I’m thinking carefully they offered to match until they heard Irvine’s offer. I think she had a mild stroke. It was a great conversation. As of now, you’ll be seeing me in ca just to be clear, it wasn’t Iowa, it was FAU. -

"The time limit for the MFA is three years for full-time study and five years for part-time study." I see now it's time "limit". don't know what the fuck that means with respect to full time status. I don't see two year program on the admissions page. i do see funding options for first and second year and then another possibility for a third. Also, I emailed the program director because I couldn't apply until after jan 7 so i wanted to know if funding was actually contingent on that deadline. at least some of the info on that page is wrong. i swear it seems like all these schools are trying to keep shit a secret. so, how did they offer the package? -

after stonybrookdotedu /commcms/sfs/tuition/_documents/1244GRAD.pdf you would not be full time 46 credits over three years. -

you have different info than i do. my math says it's about 14.5 for the two years after the remission but before the stipend. I'm not counting the conference. -

nope. they sat around reading and commenting and sometimes even arguing. before any selection was made you were in a pool of candidates they wanted. from there they had to make eliminations because there are only so many resources. @writernityhow did they make the offer? email? call?
