  1. Crying in front of two hundred construction workers and I can’t tell them why because they wouldn’t understand. But you people will. Irvine!
  2. Well, looks like it’s a thanks but no thanks from me. shit.
  3. "The time limit for the MFA is three years for full-time study and five years for part-time study." I see now it's time "limit". don't know what the fuck that means with respect to full time status. I don't see two year program on the admissions page. i do see funding options for first and second year and then another possibility for a third. Also, I emailed the program director because I couldn't apply until after jan 7 so i wanted to know if funding was actually contingent on that deadline. at least some of the info on that page is wrong. i swear it seems like all these schools are trying to keep shit a secret. so, how did they offer the package?
  4. do you wanna know? let's put it this way, boy are they offering you a lot of money.
  5. after stonybrookdotedu /commcms/sfs/tuition/_documents/1244GRAD.pdf you would not be full time 46 credits over three years.
  6. congratulations! i applied too. i guess another one bites the dust.
  7. you have different info than i do. my math says it's about 14.5 for the two years after the remission but before the stipend. I'm not counting the conference.
  8. nope. they sat around reading and commenting and sometimes even arguing. before any selection was made you were in a pool of candidates they wanted. from there they had to make eliminations because there are only so many resources. @writernityhow did they make the offer? email? call?
  9. are you a resident? if so, it amounts to a free ride... almost. i, apparently, am being offered dick.
  10. you can ask for more but i don't know how that works. i do know 50% leaves a lot to pay for. then there's the roof and food.
  11. Rutgers is apparently sending out interview requests. Of course, it’s one of the schools where my recommender failed me.
  12. AND A NOTHER THING! most people who apply to MFA programs this year will get in nowhere. if you get in anywhere, or are even waitlisted, it's a pretty good show. if you are rejected everywhere, then next year go hard in the paint, play to the buzzer, and leave it all on the floor. "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." That includes the pursuit of instruction.
  13. Let me tell you and everyone else thinking like this something you already know, this is not how math works. after this is all over, you can write all your acceptances, rejections, and waitlists on index cards, shuffle them, and get a different order - or the opposite order - or the same order. what if all your acceptances came first - then you sat back happy waiting for michner, michigan, iowa, vandy, and jhu? would you presume you'd be getting in? no, of course not. this is a variation on the gambler's fallacy. each event is unrelated. those thinking about whether to cut schools loose early (before they accept another offer or have more, or are holding out for a waitlist rather than say yes somewhere) should think about this too. not only is it still early, as long as you have one pending app, it's on the table. when you know, you know. THEN you sign the form and decline the other offers and waitlists or call sour grapes. until then, play to the buzzer.
  14. this is for all the marbles. act like it. ask. I wouldn't wait either, if you are going to ask for more time, give the courtesy of giving them time to decide and get back to you. and don't be afraid to mention that's what you're doing. simply explain that you have a lot of balls in the air right now and there are work, family, and other dynamics at play and some more time would be appreciated. They were on my list so i'm interested to know about their funding offer. let us know when you hear.
  15. I applied there as well and have heard zip. I’m fiction so I’m still a little hopeful. And for a CNF I’m not sure you would do better somewhere else. I’m going from memory here but they are one of the handful of schools who push the business side a bit. They value the whole life.
  16. I posted a link to the site on page 62
  17. just found it! along with two others on the waitlist. now all i need is to find out where they live... *twirls moustache* MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! @writernity "I did check my portal, there's no changes on it and everything is marked as received. I definitely didn't send an official-official transcript though, so I expect they'll probably request that soon?" maybe. did you send an unofficial or none at all?
  18. Do NOT fuck with me. are you serious? where? who? I don't see that on the sheet. Check your portal. I just found out I'm missing not one, but TWO recs. If there's anything missing from your application it may be highlighted there. I see that someone offered funding said they received an email to check the portal. it makes it seem as though that is where they found their offer. that's why i checked even after receiving the email. man, this is a lot.
  19. I'm sorry. I really don't mean to make anyone feel bad by posting. but to me, this actually feels like an acceptance. If it makes you feel better i applied to Syracuse once. they rejected me twice. I shit you not. who gets rejected twice?
  20. congratulations!! guess who else! as for your questions, i dunno. someone got an offer for 25% tuition and a $6500 stipend.
  21. The funding package requires you weave counterfeit alpaca rugs for export and the classrooms smell like rusted feet. Ricockulous. That would be unethical.
  22. Just curious, no reason at all to ask. In fact, asking for a friend. The friend, if i didn't mention it, is just curious. did anyone here get into the NWP for fiction or does anyone here know anyone who was accepted for fiction? Because I've heard, my friend I mean, my friend has heard that the fiction program over there is horrible. if you got in or know someone who has, do not go!
  23. This is how I’d play it. I think it’s unethical for the rest of you.
  24. One or two people have asked about Arizona. Someone on draft reports they are dealing with "major debt issues" and wonders if that is affecting the notifications.
  25. Older. 31. That’s cute.
