I think this means that you are a very competitive applicant! I'm guessing at least one of the above three schools will accept you.
-
Wahoo! Congrats!!
-
i was invited to Leadership Candler, which means, at the very minimum, i received full tuition remission with the chance to get a stipend. however, i turned the offer down because i decided i'd rather attend Boston University......so, i hope one of you gets my spot!

you can maybe try to retake the GRE. honestly, from what I've heard from contacting numerous departments, the magic number if 1400 -- i.e., 1400 and above puts an individual into the "for consideration pile". i'm not sure what it's like at all schools, but I contacted professors at a number of the "big name" anthropology departments and this is what I've been told. otherwise, your application looks fantastic!!! i really hope you get in somewhere. if you don't get in anywhere, then i would suggest applying to some lower ranked schools as backup in the next application cycle. it's better to be an anthropologist than to not be an anthropologist, right? also, maybe apply to programs other than anthropology? let us know what happens.

Boston University School of Theology. It offers MDiv, MTS, STM, PhD, DMin, and ThD degreed.
-
i'll PM you
-
Very true; however, at this point, i'm not sure i want to attend this school anymore. But thank you for the kind words!
-
also, why didn't you apply to BU? given your interests, BU seems like a good school for you
-
Yes! I'm so stoked. Seriously, this is my dream program .
-
How come?

i didn't know people still take John Searle seriously. I guess after reading Bennett and Hacker's Philosophical Foundations of Neuroscience (i was admitted to a neuroscience grad program last year and was thinking about attending, thus i read this book), it's hard for me to take anything Searle or Dennett say seriously. Anyways, if you like Derrida, then more power to you. It sounds like an interesting paper. And, if you like Searle and quote from him, more power to you. I think the main point of submitting a writing sample for grad school is that it's cogent and well-written.

Well, congrats on the Vandy . Although, I hope you get accepted to HDS for the MDiv. I got into Boston University for the MDiv, and if you get into HDS we could take some classes via the consortium! Anyways, I'm going to BU
-
i should add that although i applied to the phd program in anthro @ UNM, i guess they only accept to the MA (which is what I was accepted to) and there's no guarantee of getting the phd, which makes going, at least for me, pointless.
-
persiandoc, will you be in Boston this fall??? as of right now, i'm leaning towards my acceptance at Boston University School of Theology to do the Mdiv w/ a focus in either practical of philosophical / systematic theology. if you go to a school in Boston, let me know!
-
You're welcome . I did apply for med anthro, but I did not apply to the concurrent PhD/MPH; however, I would be interested in doing that after my first or second year. The Brown MPH program is really tempting me at the moment though...
-
Best of luck to you as well!
-
You're not done yet. Keep your chin up

WashU said they are making decisions this week. I wonder if they will notify by email or post? Any ideas?
-
I'll definitely keep everyone updated! Thanks for the extremely kind words, persiandoc! That's awesome you are an MD! I DO want to pursue medicine too! We'll definitely have to keep in touch! When you decide on a program, please send me your email so we can keep in touch!! all the best!
-
Congrats! Is Vandy your first choice?
-
Wahoo!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!! That's so exciting, and I'm so happy for you. Please keep us posted if you hear anything else or if you get off a wait-list! I was accepted to UNM (phd anthro), Brown (mph), Columbia (mph), Emory (mdiv), and Oxford (mphil). I'm still waiting on WashU (phd anthro) and Boston University (mdiv). please keep your fingers crossed for me! all the best, NM

Persiandoc, Every time I enter this topic I keep hoping you'll have a post that says "I'M IN! I'M IN!!!" Please keep us posted. I'm pulling for you, man!!!!

Thanks! And I was JUST accepted to University of New Mexico for the phd in ethnology ! The MD and the PhD should only take about 9 to 10 years, which is a long time; however, I LOVE school . The MDiv at Emory and Boston University are completely different than at most schools. My electives (that is, a little over a third of my course work) can be in ANY discipline. Naturally, I would take anthropology courses. Also, I'm interested (even with my anthro) in political / liberation theology. Geez, I hope Oxford will get back to me sooner rather than later concerning which college i've been accepted to. Also, i wish the Clarendon was awarded in March instead of April

someone was notified for BU's ThD...so does that mean MDiv applicants will hear soon?
