OP, you never told us which program.

All of my education professors have told me that the education field values practice/experience in the field over a 3.9 GPA. So, someone with excellent experience with a 3.0 GPA may have gotten in over you. If you had a 3.9 GPA and 5+ Years in higher ed (your indicated interest area), you probably would have gotten in. Why are you interested in higher education now, since you haven't worked in the field for the last 5+ years? Did you explain that in your statement?

I thought it was weird that no one has posted one of these types of threads. It's like a tumble weed rolled by. Are we not feeling it this year? Personally, I'm still on the fence and I'm unsure about applying for grad school. I need to come to a decision because it's winding down.

Hello All, I was interested in applying to a newly created masters program at the college of education I am interested in. Are there any drawbacks to applying to a newly created program? I will probably get an intimate setting, which is nice because the university is huge. But if accepted, I'm worried there will not be any funding available. Any thoughts would be helpful.

It should give you an idea of the stats needed to be a strong applicant to those schools. 2. I know on CC you asked about the stats from the schools you are interested in. Again, in my response, from my own research, talking to professors in education, they want to see your commitment to the field. Why ed policy? What attracts you to that field? Admissions in education tends to be holistic, so they want to see what you have accomplished in education in conjunction with GPA, GRE, letters, etc. Little experience in ed won't hurt, but you should have good stats.
