  2. still nothing... 209-psychology doctorate
  3. Ugh the waiting is killing me. Every time I see no update I feel worse and worse. Last year they definitely gave out acceptances first and then started sending the rejections. (psych Ph.D)

    CIHR!!

Just got my results- rejected Any one able to provide a little clarification on the ratings? What does your "Application Rank" number mean in respect to those who won?
  5. stand out
  6. That list might narrow down and change a bit once you get into your master's more and likely have the opportunity to attend conferences and meet many of the faculty you would be applying to
  7. When my bookshelf was overloaded I just started adding wall shelves
  8. glossed over
  9. My GRE scores were extremely disappointing. However, I know that I do not do well on multiple choice tests, so instead of retaking them, I improved my application my getting some papers submitted for publication and focused on winning funding (SSHRC). After I did that I got into almost every school I applied to, even the schools that said they had high cutoffs for the GREs. Obviously, if you can improve your scores great...if not, it's not the end of the world, there are other ways you can improve your application.
  10. When I started last fall I have the same experience when meeting my cohort. The impostor syndrome for me set as soon as picked my school, and I have heard it never really goes away (there is always that small part of you that looks around at your colleagues and thinks what the f am I doing here). I think what is important to remember (and what I am still learning) is that they picked you for a reason. This is not the first year they have had applicants and they know what they are looking for, they would not have selected you if your application was not impressive. Everyone of your future colleagues probably looked at the list and had the same thought as you did! I am sure you are awesome! Be proud of all of your accomplishments- and congrats!
  11. Me too... Unsuccessful Apparently, my application was good enough to win SSHRC last year, but not good enough for OGS... Now I have no funding or next year, because I was unable to apply to the tri-council again after having SSHRC this year... debt here I come!
  12. This is what is bothering me so much! It really makes it more difficult when your colleagues all know their results and you are left waiting...
  13. My apologies, I have read only the last several pages and have not looked back at the older ones. It does make me feel slightly better that rejections have already started coming out, which means they are not all being sent out at once...but the waiting still sucks!
  14. In my program (psychology) several of the PhDs found out they were successful on the 14th and several of the MAs found out that they were successful on the 19th. So I am taking it as bad news that it seems many successful candidates have already heard from my program and I have not. Also, no one has posted a rejection on the forum yet....Are people just not posting it when they find out? Or have no rejections been sent out?....because if the second is true, there are a lot of rejections to come

    SSHRC

I totally understand about the prestige that Vanier winners bring to a school and how they are more important than the MA awards. I am just saying that with all the press they are doing for the Vanier winners they couldn't just spare a few minutes to say hey you got the award will send more information later. I know that everyone keeps saying I am a shoe in but I won't really feel better until I know for sure!

    SSHRC

I have not been notified by my school either. They have spent their time putting out articles about the 6 vanier winners from the school and have ignored the Masters students. When I contact the faculty of graduate studies they told me I would have to wait until Friday! Have I not waited long enough!!!! I am soooooooo not happy about having to wait longer!

    SSHRC

Wow I never thought when I first made this group that it would get to be this long! I can't believe it is taking SSHRC this long to get the MA results out. Almost an entire month ago a prof that accepted me told me that while she was at SSHRC they told her the MA awards had already been decided! Why are they delaying sending them out???
  19. I am currently dealing with this dilemma! When my SO and I started dating we both knew we were going to each be applying to schools and we said that the schools and research should come first, however that was several years ago now. This year we both applied to a lot of schools and tried to have them overlapping and the areas overlapping. Unfortunately, I just got an offer from a school with great research that i would be thrilled to go to, but its not an area I want to live in and it is one of the few schools that I applied to that my SO did not apply any where near. I am still waiting to hear back from other schools and so is he, but its a hard decision when the school i already got into is so great. We would end up doing long distance for the next 6 years!

    SSHRC

I know that SSHRC for the master's award come out in spring, but does anyone know when exactly that would be April, May?
  21. The Big Bang Theory is amazing!! I love that show
  22. Thanks! Anyone else who applied to Canadian schools? Here is my list, in no particular order (I know there is a lot! I am slightly neurotic) McMaster (had phone interview) McGill Calgary UNB UBC-Okanagan York Western Dalhousie MSVU Brock (interview) Windsor Manitoba Acadia Concordia (told I will be contacted shortly, not really sure what this means) :|
  23. Hello Everyone! I have noticed that most of the schools that people talk about tend to be from the States. I thought that maybe this could be a topic where people who applied to schools in Canada could post when they hear from them in regards to acceptances, rejections, and interviews. I applied to Clinical, Developmental, and Counselling. So far I have had interviews at Brock and McMaster, but have not heard anything from anywhere else.
  24. All of the schools that I applied to that had deadlines in December are still reporting that I am missing parts of my application. I know that I sent everything, but if it actually got there is still not know (i.e. transcripts and GRES). I called the schools on January 5th and asked them if they has received everything and they all reported that they were still going through the mail. It has now been two weeks since then, and over a six week since I submitted my application. Should I call again?
