  1. Everyone I know from Buffalo is obsessed with Wegmans. I have no idea how similar it may or may not be to Whole Foods/Trader Joe's, but I liked it the one time I went. And there are a couple of good chain burrito places in Buffalo (Chiptole and Moe's), but I don't live close enough to know any of the local places.
  2. Congrats you guys! Arizona and Miami both seem like fantastic programs! Arizona was one of the last programs I took of my list of schools. I can't wait to see where everyone ends up.
  3. I'm also anxiously awaiting news from CMU. Hopefully, it will come soon.
  4. After two solid weeks of radio silence from the rest of my programs, I got an offer from University of Houston today! Super pumped and also super overwhelmed by options. Hope this weeks proves to be exciting for everyone!
  5. My MA offered a similar situation. It was worth it for me, but I had very few loans for undergrad, and my husband had none. For us, it wasn't a huge deal to have to take out more loans for my MA.
  6. Congrats Ishmael! I'm so excited for you! I'm admitted for comp/rhet, and while I've heard that it's a 'good program' from a few of my professors, I don't really know anything about it to back that up. I'd love to hear more as well if anyone has anything to share.
  7. I'm 24, turning 25 before starting in a PhD program in the fall. When I flew out to find an apt in NY for my MA, I was asked if I was 15. I was 23.
  8. I'm one of the ones in at SC for English comp/rhet and don't really know anything about people pursuing English literature there. That being said - I've received a good bit of information over the past week or so about the visit weekend and making plans for that. It seems like most schools don't start sending that info out until they are finished handing out acceptances. However, the visit isn't until the last weekend in March, so it's not like they are running out of time to notify people. I don't know if any of that is helpful, but I hate the whole having no information part of this, so I wanted to share what I do know. Hope you hear officially from them soon!
  9. Swag - I think you've got the freakout part of the thread title down. Congrats!
  10. So, do we think the first full set of acceptances is already out? I know they send the whole email where they ask you not to freak out until you officially get a rejection, but it'd be nice to have a clearer idea of what's going on.
  11. THIS. Ugh. I just want to know. I'm thankful that places like Purdue have made the way they do acceptances and rejections very clear, but I'm still just so ready to know. Blergh.
  12. A few MA programs that I've heard of that are still taking applications for admission and for assistantships: Abilene Christian University College of Charleston Winthrop University
  13. Anyone interested can shoot me a PM, and I'd be happy to share.
  14. I'm in an MA program that not only has spring acceptances with funding but also has a May 1 deadline for funded spots for Fall 2013.
  15. Hooray! Good news from TCU to finish up the week! After getting a crappy Valentine's Day message from UT yesterday, I'm thrilled! Congratulations to everyone else who got good news today! Apparently lots of schools wrapped up their decisions this week.
  16. CONGRATS! You have two fantastic programs to choose from!
  17. Thanks! I'm hoping that the lack of responses on the thread means that some of you guys are going to be waitlisted soon!
  18. I got an email from Wayne Lesser about an hour ago. I'm disappointed but thrilled to have other options.
  19. THANKS! I was absolutely not expecting this outcome for my applications! It's been crazy, and I'm super thankful to have options.
  20. Seems like lots of Comp/Rhet posts have gone up on the boards? I can claim Texas Woman's and Virigina Tech, but does anyone else want to claim the others?
  21. Most of my actual 'To Read' list right now is for our Comps (blergh), but my other fun reads I'd like to pursue are the rest of the Song of Ice and Fire books. Basically, it seems as though I'll be finishing my MA then immersing myself in a whole boatload of sad, depressing books.
  22. I'm so stinking thankful for my parents. They have been amazing through this whole process. Neither of them pursued degrees past the Bachelor's level, but they are absolutely on board with my plans. They were awesome through my move from TX to NY for my MA, and I know will be happy with wherever I choose to go for the PhD. It is a serious blessing to have them be so excited for me and my academic pursuits.
  23. I haven't heard either. My best guess is that they are now whittling down an official waitlist. It looks like waitlists went out about a week later than acceptances last year.
