  1. Pretty anxious still... . I just want to know already! I'm supposed to find out everything in the next four weeks, but still...
  2. Yes. Do you know when your friend/coworker received the email saying everything was complete?
  3. Does anyone want to claim the Higher Ed acceptance yesterday? I didn't realize they could update status pages on weekends.
  4. If you send admissions committees chocolate anonymously right before they read your application, they will be more likely to accept you.
  5. Oh my gosh... that sounds like a nightmare and a half.
  6. Unfortunately, I got a similar email from two of my schools. I think it's pretty standard. Sending good thoughts your way though! Good luck!
  7. Yay!!! Congratulations! While I've never been there personally, I've heard UCSB is gorgeous .
  8. Awww I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, Eager. I think your plan is good. Take some classes, make some contacts and things will be ok. If that's truly where you want to be, it will work out eventually. You're an incredible person with so much grace and humility. Most people would have stopped going on gradcafe all together. I know there's the saying that nice guys finish last, but I definitely think it's false. I think karma is definitely going to play a role in your life. You're going to get something that's even better and life will be good. Still rooting for you
  9. You're right. I don't mean to be ungrateful, I promise. Sorry . This is my second time applying (well, to graduate school). The first time, I got rejected from all nine schools I applied to with no interviews, so trust me, I really do understand how frustrating it can be. I think I'm just one of those people that has HUGE issues with uncertainty. I'm a planner. I also started rethinking the program at UCLA and am not sure if I would rather work than go to their program... so I think that's probably also what's going on. For those of you waiting for your first acceptance, I wish you extra luck!
  10. Oh, and their whole site is down. I was trying to see if I still had an "incomplete" status, but the site won't work. Maybe they're adding our materials to our status check pages? . That whole incomplete nonsense is ridiculous.
  11. I don't know if this helps since I'm a master's applicant, but they sent out an email saying that decisions would be made in late February/early March. I also got a pretty intense schedule about what the internship picking process would be like. Eight interviews in one day for the internship?!
  12. I have not heard anything from them though I applied to POLS. I wouldn't worry too much. We'll know in the next two weeks according to that email they sent.
  13. Pretty much same here. I've heard from one of my seven schools. I'm expecting to hear from Penn next week around Wednesday or so and then a bunch the last week in February and first week of March. I just wish the emotional roller coaster of self-doubt one minute, confidence the next would subside. My body is even feeling the effects of it. JUST TELL ME ALREADY . I don't know if I'll be east or west coast, let alone which state I'll live in. Do I need to buy a new wardrobe? Buy a bunch of plane tickets to visit programs? Can anyone prescribe me a sleeping pill that would allow me to wake up in three weeks?
  14. Don't say that! I'm banking on early March. I will be so sad if we have to wait that long.
  15. For FOUR damn hours last night, I was tossing and turning because I was having a dream about pushing refresh on one of my status pages and certain grad cafe topics... I also think I'm getting stress related nausea and back pain. I seriously think the people at work think I'm a hypochondriac. My body is even losing it! . Can't wait until March 15th so that all of this craziness is over and I can be a normal person again.
  16. I'm with you on the loans. I'm lucky enough to have no debt from undergrad and some money saved up... But yes, I would definitely pay full price for Harvard. Please accept me? 3 more weeks!!!
  17. Awww . But yay for getting accepted into master's! That's no easy task either. Those of you with 1/15 or 1/16 completion dates.. can you post on here when you hear back? I'm getting pretty anxious. I hit my four weeks today!
  18. I'm sorry-- this post made me laugh a bunch. I definitely do the same thing every time one of the schools I was thinking about shows up on the board.
  19. It sounds like you're still in undergrad based on the thirty hours to complete. Is there a particular reason you want to go straight into grad school? Would you ever consider taking a year or two off to get some experience in Higher Ed? Having some experience under your belt would make you a more competitive candidate and compensate for some grades. Especially in Higher Ed, they are interested in the experiences that led you to apply. Also, a bunch of the job opportunities for master's degree candidates require several years of experience (I'm a little nervous going in with only two full-time years :/). If you have a particular job in mind that requires a master's with limited full-time experience, then that's great! I just haven't found many in my area, so I thought I would throw that out there. That's not to discourage you, especially if you are ready to apply in December, just to make you think a little bit. I'm not sure which part of Higher Ed you want to go into, but admissions counselors are always up on the job boards. Admissions counselor positions are perfect for people coming right out of undergrad. They pay $30,000-35,000 per year (not the best, but it could be a little better than retail pay?), possibly higher depending on the location. There's also a fairly high turnover, so there are more job available. It would also give you some experience to see one side of the university and then you would have an easier time switching to positions within that university. Something else to think about: if you get a job at a university and get a master's with them, they will pay for part of the degree. You sounded like you were concerned about money, so I thought I would mention that. Good luck!!! Everyone on this board is really friendly and happy to answer questions. None of us are experts because we've all just applied, but feel free to ask away .
  20. It's just that it seems that they are running behind their 4 week notification and the later our "application complete" dates are, the later we will probably find out, in my opinion. That is just me guessing so I'm not anxiously refreshing my inbox once tomorrow comes . I just assume that the closer we waited until the deadline, the more applications they will have to review, so it will take longer for us to find out.
  21. Mine was complete the day after yours! I'm not anticipating a decision until the 20th at the earliest.
  22. About the checklist: I don't think it means anything. When you guys started talking about it on here, I started looking at mine. The checklist disappeared and then magically returned today. It was probably a glitch in their system.
  23. Don't worry yet, but it is a little disconcerting. It seems like their decisions are spread out. Still really early though...
  24. Woah.. TC is already giving out acceptances? There are two on the results. None from Higher Ed, but I thought for sure we wouldn't know until mid-March...
