  1. Exactly, that is the type of professor I would go for. We are talking about 4-5 years of our lives here.
  2. Some professors are like that: J**ks ! That has nothing to do with schools. The more knowledgeable and famous the professors get the more professional they act on interviews. I had an interview with a UCLA professor and I was like "who the hell you think you are?" I didn't call to answer exam question ! ... go find some other pet buddy ) 50% of interview is for you to evaluate the personality and trends of the professor.
  3. There are many instances of people who learned they are accepted while they called the admission office. ( check the result page info ) So take that in mind too , especially when providing fake names
  4. Not a universal law. Lots of admissions without an interview in 2012 and 2013. Having an imterview in UCB is not an offer indication in contrast with most of schools.
  5. Yeah I noticed too and that's the problem with the result section here unreliable ...
  6. There are some explanations HERE if you scroll down to March 2010. Though it may be wrong.
  7. Checking the result page for the 1000+1 time. Have no idea if that's due to forgetting ( I really don't remember the dates) or I just get stressed and wanna soothe myself by seeing that I still have time Meanwhile trying to write a Thesis !
  8. It seems like Stanford has started sending out the admissions for MSE. There are two posts as for now in the result page, one domestic and one international.
  9. They are investing lots of resources in Solar Cell and have really cool facilities (mainly the EE department) called the QESST project ~ 35 Million $ city is pretty awesome and hot ! both in weather and other stuff Job Market ... Hmmm ... I haven't heard anything bad. two labmates both are in intel now. Program, in terms of courses and stuff : HUGH ! ... but you can take many courses from outside MSE, like the EE program which is literally FANTASTICCCCC ! I haven't really seen any other school with such wonderful courses in semiconductors and devices as the EE department here.
  10. haha ... that was a really nice idea ... now I have a new idea to follow on youtube beside "road accidents"
  11. Brain : Hope for the best plan for the worst Heart: o0 Brain just Shu* the F* up ... let's be optimistic Me : :|
  12. Same goes here I didn't know about Monday being a day off till Monday morning and puffff so disappointed
  13. I hate weekends It gets utterly boring as you know all the BING BANG BOOMz coming from your inbox are either advertisements or the girlfriend )
  14. That was a really nice experience you shared with us. I am sure there are so many people out there who are hoping to enter this rather small but highly ranked school without considering such facts. I do believe that it's funny for them to compare for those big schools since their research expenditure is not even close to a school such as MIT.
  15. Of course. Go ahead and do it. Even if no one response and you get in, you can refer to the email saying you were intereseted in their work from the begining.
  16. They have started the application review process, I am told by graduate chair last time I saw him. If you have a faculty memeber who can send a note to Dr. Alford saying he/she will support you for at least 2 years he will process your admission right away. Otherwise, it will take time. And the Materials Department doesn't have much money on TA unlike Physics department. In physics Peter Bennett is going to give you a hard time for admission PS. if you want to do research on anything else than electronics or Microscopy I don't suggest ASU.
  17. Well Cornell is one of those schools where Faculty get students by themselves -at least I am 100% positive about that in Electrical Engineering- If you have a green light from a professor then you're fine and if not your chances are very low.
  18. You'r right. But the further rounds are like lottery i think. I am not that inrerested is UCSB ( generally not in MSE any more as I'v become more device orientated ) though it hurts
  19. Most of the acceptances in April are for lucky people who were previously waitlisted. And most of the times those offer are not comprised of any financial aid.
  20. Sound like Santa Barbara has sent two sets of acceptances for Fall '13 and I think they should be done -or at least for all domestics.
