My application has been forwarded to the Department for review....again
-
this is the program in Historical Archaeology right?
-
Ok, I got word back from someone within the department to go to admissions.ou.edu and log into the application system to check your status. Apparently, my application was sent today to the Graduate College for review; or the second stage of the process. I think its going to be a while before I find out if I'm in or not...
-
Actually, I'm looking to do something similar...On an extreme surface level, I want to look at NA history during the "Indian Wars", but utilizing the material record.
-
I can't imagine OU got nearly as many applicants as say Yale or Havard...Wth is taking so long? BTW, are you all applying to the PhD program or one of the two MA programs?
-
yea, I got that same email a long time ago . I also emailed someone I know in the department, but no word back from them yet.
-
ok, here is the response I got Your file is now ready for and admissions officer to review, and that should happen sometime in the next few weeks. Graduate Admission Process Office of Admissions Review Upon receipt of your application, the Office of Admissions will verify that all materials are received and will forward your application to the Graduate College for review. Graduate College Review After a review of your transcripts and the calculation of your GPA, the Graduate College will refer your application to the academic department for their review. Academic Department Review After the academic department reviews your complete application, they will notify the Graduate College of their admission recommendation. Notification of Admission Decision The Graduate College will review the recommendation and forward your application and final admission decision to the Office of Admissions, who will then notify you of your admission status.

Will do...

I can't wait anymore...I'm going to email the department and the admissions office and see if I can fish out an answer...This is the last school that I need to hear back from and I am sick of waiting to make important life decisions...
-
It says "A decision has been made and you will be notified" on the website for me.
-
Check your email...I just got my rejection at 1:15 in the morning... :'(
-
Probably a waste of money, unless people move off the waitlist often in your field...

Got offered a Masters, but applied for Phd
PhD or Bust replied to micromajor2011's topic in Waiting it Out
I feel you...I'm 2 years out from undergrad...I've been unemployed for the past 9 months or so and have basically not paid back a dime of my student loans...I'm hinging on my grad school apps to pull me out of this...Unfortunately I've been rejected from all of them so far, though I am still waiting to hear from two...If I get a "consolation" MA offer, I will probably take it, as long as it's not too expensive. If I don't, it looks like I will be left with waiting tables, which will barely supplement living expenses, much less the $350 a month student loan payments. I'm really crazy worried to say the least... -
I should add, from what I understand from talking with my professor who got his PhD there, the department is some what luddite, so expect everything to come via snail mail.
-
I got a letter from the Director of Admissions saying that the department has made a decision for me, but that I was missing one of my transcripts. (A school I took 2 classes at "forgot" to send it in...wtf?) Anyway, still no word back other than they received the other transcript.
-
I was recommended for admissions, but they didn't recieve one of my official transcripts for some reason...I hope this doesn't screw me out of acceptance/ money

Being a graduate TA in the first year of graduate school?

I realize this is ridiculous and just wishful thinking on my part, but do you know if being an in-state resident has any impact on the grad school application process at UNC in the same way that it does on undergrad?
-
I thought someone said on here (or maybe it was elsewhere) that the final decisions wouldn't be out until the end of March?
-
damn are there special ones for Jew-atheist like myself? Why haven't I received my card?
-
I'm an Indian and have yet to get in to a school ...Not to play the "race card", but I honestly thought that being indigenous and wanting to do indigenous history - with great grades - would have helped me to get into schools...

waiting on UNC (like all the others) and Univ of Oklahoma
