  2. I was told that my application has only been through the first reader! I'll be waiting for a little while.
  3. That's awesome!!! I should've called!! Haha
  4. Well, I decided to go ahead and send an email.
  5. Would it be silly to email them for a status update?

  7. Yaaayyy! Congrats!! Good luck with your decision! I also applied to Loyola and UIC.
  8. I'm pretty anxious, too. Maybe today is the day!
  9. Hi, Zeb! We have a thread going on in the Social Work forum for UChicago. If you applied close to the deadline, it looks like you should be hearing by the end of the week. However, looking at past results, it's possible we could be waiting a little longer. Eeee! So close!
  10. Well, I only applied to schools in Chicago. I was born there, actually, but moved away when I was six. I'm going back to my roots! To me, the windy city is just beautiful. I can't wait to live by the lake and go for a jog down Lake Shore Dr. There always seems to be something to do, a park nearby, a festival going on. I also appreciate the cultural/racial/ethnic diversity that characterizes big cities. I understand the draw of the mountains, too. After all, I did move to Colorado for four years for undergrad. I'm so lucky! But I miss living in a big city, and I'm ready for an adventure. Here's the advice I'll give you that I got when trying to decide where to apply: do what you love in the most adventurous place you can do it. I'm proud to say that I listened to my gut and will be moving to Chicago once I get accepted. Good luck with your decision!
  11. Awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
  12. Woohoo! Congratulations! I'm guessing I probably won't hear until next week or the week after considering my application wasn't complete until the 14th (last recommendation took some time). Good luck with your decision!
  13. Getting closer!!!
  14. I sent edible arrangements to my recommenders. Some are quite expensive, but I purchased ones in the $20-$25 range. They liked it a lot!
  15. I graduated last summer (B.S. Psychology) with the intention of working one year while applying to master's programs. I applied to a few research positions, but with only 8 months of experience, it was too competitive. I decided to accept a part-time position at a bookstore until something else came along. Then, found a job working in an after-school program for a private K-8. I don't know exactly how private differs from public, but here we're allowed to sub. It pays pretty well, actually, so that may be something you'd be interested in. I'm doing the after-school program very part-time now that I have found an office job in marketing. Everything seemed to fall into place after about five months post graduation. I'm glad I decided to take the year off because I need the money! I live at home (thanks mom!), so that helps.
  16. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named (Lord Voldemort)
  17. Me neither, but I applied to Jan 15, Feb 15, and Mar 1 deadlines. I should start to hear back on the 15th! I can and can't wait at the same time.
  18. Well, I couldn't wait, so I called them this morning. Luckily, they clarified why I was sent the email. I feel much more at ease! My transcript should be there. Phew. I'm glad your situation worked out, too!
  19. I'm afraid this will reveal the extent of my grandiose anxiety, but hopefully I'm in good company. The Story: I was sitting innocently at work, prepared to tackle my next assignment, when I received an email from one of my Masters programs with the most ominous subject heading: MISSING CREDENTIAL LETTER. My heart immediately began to beat rapidly. It didn't help that I had been sipping on a Starbucks mocha drink, something I rarely do as I'm much too sensitive to caffeine (possibly related to a horrible experience with caffeine pills in high school, but that's a whole 'nother story). Following suit with my heart, my mind began to race. But.. but.. I received a letter via postal service last week verifying all materials received. What is this?! I tapped my iPhone, opening the email with the flick of a hand. Thank you modern technology for instant fear! It appeared that they are missing a transcript, which I am absolutely certain I enclosed with the rest of the application. Crap. What do I do? I'm at work. Do I sneak a call? I couldn't possibly wait until my lunch hour, a lengthy 49 minutes away. I snuck in a call. The admissions office informed me that it probably hasn't been sent yet to the right people, that it still needs to be updated. Some may sigh in relief, but no, not PsyK. What if they don't actually have it? What if it was misplaced? It's already past the deadline, so there's no opportunity for me to send it in again. Is my application going to be discarded? I only applied to three schools! I needed a plan. The Plan: I've decided that next Monday I'm going to call Admissions again to ask if the transcript has been recorded. I'm not sure I could let this go and trust in the process. Would you? On the edge of her seat, PsyK
  20. A few weeks?? Oh no, don't say that!
  21. Congratulations to the both of you! Good luck with your decision, NadaJ. Let us know what you decide.
  22. Yay - I'm glad I found you! Yes, I did some hunting and saw an EDer with a mid/late Feb. decision. I'm just so impatient! Where else did you apply? I'm also looking at UIC and Loyola.
  23. Anyone else out there who chose the Jan. 15 deadline? Hear anything yet? I'm getting antsy!
