  1. no, i got the award (category A for 3yrs). so you guys are close.
  2. i looked at the previous year threads, and they said it was out of 9.
  3. ok that's good to know - i thought it was late too. the only think i could think of was that maybe they said that to be safe and herd off people calling and asking... or it was supposed to say march instead of may. anyways, good luck everyone.
  4. i am waiting too. my school told me that you could not really predict your chances. they told me last year 1 out of 5 from our school got it, the year before 6 out of 7. the email i received when they confirmed receiving my application said results would be out in may, so friday would definitely be nice!
  5. ya, i don't know about doing it before knowing you have a SSHRC (it might make things complicated and/or raise unnecessary red flags if they think you're changing it b/c of something related to eligibility?), but I switched my start date for my MA SSHRC as I described above (I applied as a MA student, not as an incoming undergrad too). SSHRC sent me an email saying I got the award, and when I responded to confirm the acceptance, I also asked to switch the start date.
  6. yes you can switch dates and get backpay, you just have to notify them when you are doing the acceptance paperwork and they'll change it.
  7. i attended a workshop on sshrc. they said that for ma's historically they rewarded 95-99% of forwarded apps depending on the year, but for PhDs it was 55-65% depending on the year.
  8. from:http://www.vanier.gc...andidature.aspx that being said last year at my school, 2 of the 4 winners did their masters at the school. side note: any sshrc applicants know the total number that applied? (ie 50/xxx)
  9. i just had a quick question and didn't want to start a new thread so i thought i would ask here: does anyone know what the weighting break down for scoring vanier is? i can't seem to find it anywhere, but i know its available for sshrcs so i'm not sure if i just can't find it (ie.something like 30% academic, 40% research potential, 30% leadership)? thanks!
  10. cool, thanks. when i emailed sshrc my acceptance they forwarded my request for a change of start date and the same day they responded that my request had been approved so its pretty easy for those who want to.
  11. I'm in the greater van area too and I heard today as well (letter from SSHRC). yay! side note: for those who commented earlier, was anyone able to successfully change the start date of their award once they received the letter?
