  1. I know what you mean but I wanted an MEM program that somehow involved Civil Engineering and Construction courses and that is why DUKE's and CORNELL's concentration in Construction Management seemed perfect. The Program at MIT even have the word System Design in the programs name. About Columbia I was planning on applying on the Construction Engineering and Management Program which looks pretty good.
  2. Hello I just took the POWERPREP practice test for the new GRE and I was wondering if there is a chance to get a different practice test from the PP or there is only one sample test to practice? I have also tried the 4 Princeton Practice Test (which contained several type mistakes) and I have 1 KAPLAN free practice test. Are there any other reliable practices tests? free or paid? Thanks for your time...
  3. I alredy checked those but the programs from Stanford and MIT are aimed more in the direction of System Engineering, while Cornell and Duke both have a Construction Management Concentration. So basically besides the mempc there are not that many choices for a good MEM. What about the construction management programs I mentioned? are there any others that I should look into?? Thanks for your time....
  4. I was talking about the average percentiles of people who are accepted to those programs, like the average scores on GRE
  5. How can I help you? I just finished Baroons book and Im taking the exam on sep 26
  6. Hello I am taking the GRE revised in 2 weeks and I see that there is a lot of confusion regarding the grades range, new score system, percentiles, etc. Maybe we can post here the scores everyone is getting in practices tests (kaplan, princeton, Powerprepp, etc) and the scores range people are getting in the actual test when they take it. That way we can compare them and make a data base. There is a good post that predicts the percentiles for the new test that I recommend to see. My scores in practice so far are: 159 princeton, 750 - 800 PP. The other issue I have is that there is no summary of the requirements for top schools in Old scores and Percentiles, and maybe we can summarize them here. I needed the percentiles required to enter engineering in: -Berkeley -Columbia -Illinois -Duke -Cornell -USC Thank you for your time and help.
  7. Hello everyone I am planning to apply for 2 different kind of Graduate Programs. I am a Civil Engineer looking for a Master related to Management that is not an MBA. I found 2 options: the Master in Engineering Management (MEM) and the Construction Management Programs. I am planning on applying in 6 top schools and 2 mid rank. This are my current choices: 1. BERKELEY: Engineering and Project Management (MEng) 2. COLUMBIA: Construction Management Program (MS) 3. University of Illinois: Construction Management Program (MS) 4. CORNELL: Master in Engineering Management (MEM) 5. DUKE: Master in Engineering Management (MEM) 6. USC: Construction Management Program (MS) I need help to decide whether to go with the MEM or the Construction Management. Also I need 2 more options to apply (i considered Texas A&M and Northeastern University) that maybe someone can suggest. Thanks for the help and the time
  8. What I do not understand is the range in the results, if they gave it in the old format, why cant they give an specific grade?.... it is really frustating
  9. Ok Daisy... so if I am correct, according to your data, the relationship between old and new scores is not proportional (15 points Old = 1 point new); that is good to know because I was afraid the 159 translated into 635 which is no that good. I still have 2 more princeton practices and one kaplan, I will post results then. What about the percentiles required for top schools? do you know where can I find that info? I am interested in Engineering for Berkeley, Columbia and Illinoi.
  10. Nice analisys... Does anyone knows then what are the percentiles requierements for tops universities like Berkeley Engineering, Columbia and University of Illinoi. Im also getting in PowerPrepp around 750 and in Princeton Tests around 159 in math (maybe that can help you with your data) Thanks... nice work
  11. Hello everyone I have a question that i am sure many people have: New GRE scores range form 130 - 170, as opposed to old GRE scores that range from 200 - 800 That gives you a range of 40 points (1 increments) vs 60 points (10 increments) If the scores are proportional then 1 new GRE point = 1.5 old GRE points. According to that 150 = 500 , 160 = 650 , 170 = 800 The problem is I am not sure you can extrapolate the results as if they where proportional. I currently took 2 practices test and I scored 159 (635) and 160 (650) but when I take the official practice test which still scores in the old scale i got 750 (164). I was planning on applying to Berkeley so I had a target score in math of about 750. The problem is that according to new scale I have not idea what score should I get and with the extrapolated score I am getting a much slower score than my target. If any of you have the same experience and might help me. Thanks a lot for your time.
  12. Hello everyone I'm an international student from Venezuela, I have a major in Civil Engineer (top of my class) in a respected school in my country and I have 2 years of experience in a construction company. I was thinking on going to gradschool in the US and I was looking for a program that integrates Engineering with Management, Finance and Bussines Administration. Something like and MBA in Civil Engineer or Construction. So far this is what I've found: - UC Berkeley: MEng in Engineering and Project Management (CEE Department) - USC: MCM Master in Construction Management and MSCE Master in Engineer Management. - DUKE, NORTHWESTERN, DARTHMOUTH, CORNEL AND COLUMBIA: MEM Master in Engineer Management (releted program by the MEMCP) - Many mid-ranked schools (TA&M, Northeastern, Colorado): MS in Engineer Management. I have many question like: - Do I have a chance as an international student with no background in the US educational system to get into the higher ranked programs (UCB or USC) - Are there any other Engineering Management Programs that you know of? if you do can you please tell me? - Does anyone here have completed or is attending an EM program and can give me any feedback on the admission procces? - Basically any first hand oppinion or sugestions would be aprecciated Thanks for taking the time to read this...
