Hello everyone I am now into my 4rth week preparing for the GRE and I still have 3 more weeks left. I used the Princeton Review Craking the GRE, Baroons Vocab and Kplans free practice drills. I have taken about 6 practices tests from different companies and I have noticed that after 2 weeks of study my last 3 scores are about the same (600 - 650 for verbal and 710-750 for quant) I am afraid that probably I have reached my ceiling and there is nothing else I could do to improve my scores. I am aiming for a score better than 750 in math so I still need to improve some more there. I was wondering if any of you experienced this same learning curve and what can I do to take advantage of the 3 weeks I have to keep studying? What are the best strategies to study for a top math scores? any techniques or advice? Thank for your help....

I see congrats on those results, they are pretty good

What about the Construction Management Programs? Any suggestions? are they any good? how do they compare to the MEM?
-
Also, how did you get a second PowerPrep test? I thought there was only one with multiple level adaptative questions?
-
The only thing that is not proportional are your Princeton Scores, which are a little low when compared to the actual scores you got in the test Is the test easier compared to Princeton Practices Exams?

The free practice test from kaplan is avaliable to everyone, I was wondering If there is any way to get more bought practices tests as with Manhattan....
-
That´s pretty good verbal... I am aiming at at the same scores you got but the opposite order, because I am applying to top engineering MS. Did you buy any Kaplan tests or only the free practice tests? because I can not find the Kaplans test to buy.... I just took the First Manhattan practice test and got: 620 verbal and 720 math

Hello everyone again.... As many of you I am preparing to take the New GRE next month and I am very confused about the new scores range, scales, percentiles, etc. I think we can simplify this by posting our results in practice test and real test to get a large data and compare. My results are (in chronological order), I will only mention math because is the one I need: Princeton practices test: 155,159,161 Power Prepp: 730 - 800 Kaplans practices drills: 16/20, 14/20, 17/20, 19/20, 17/20 I will take the manhatans and kaplans practices test soon and update my scores. I am aiming to top ranked Civil Engineering Programs (Berkeley, Illinois, Cornell, Columbia, USC and Duke) so I need at least 750 in math, but with the results I am getting I have no idea where I stand now. Thanks for the time

Keep posting scores that way we have a larger data to compare... Also: is there any way to buy kaplans test besides the free practice test? if there is, are they better than the manhatan test package?
-
Yes but there were also typographical errors too, and even some wrong answers.... I did the 4 practices test they have and It is really frustrating. I am going to buy the Manhatan 4 test package and I hope they are better.
-
So I should mention them in my Personal History and SOP and they would evaluate if they consider it as research, I just wanted to be sure if I should put the word "research" on it

I am currently planning on applying to a Master Degree in Engineer Management in the U.S. Reading the forums I noticed that everyone is concerned about their research experience before applying to a Graduate School. I just graduate from a University in Venezuela, top of my class, but I do not have any research experience (nor do I plan to have any) and for what I read in the Programs I am applying to there is no need for it. I will apply to: - Berkeley: Engineering and Project Management (MEng) - Columbia: Construction Management (MS) - Illinois> Construction Management (MS) - USC: Construction Management (MS) - Cornell: Master in Engineering Management (MEM) - DUKE: Master in Engineering Management (MEM) Also, I wanted to ask: what is considered research? I did a thesis for my BS and I have done some Projects in my working experience but I do not know if they apply as actual research.... Thanks for the help!

Thanx Tdearr nice information.... Since everyone is speculating about the new percentiles and range scores, it is nice to know hat is the Manhattan approach to that....
-
One last thing: Do you know how you are able to get a single score in the old scale because if I remember that even ETS could not do that until they have a large sample to do scales scores and that is why they give ranges of scores. If you know the method that Manhatan uses and how accurate are they going to be after ETS realeses the scales on november?
-
Ok so if I understand you, you dont give the results like the PowerPrepp, instead you give an actual scores. That's nice Ill try the free sample and maybe I will buy them tomorrow Thnx for the help
-
I am now preparing for the GRE which I will take in 3 weeks. Then 2 weeks to prepare for TOEFL. After that 2 more weeks for SOP, personal history and LOR. By mid November I am planning on applying to: -Berkely: EPM (MEng) -Columbia: Construction Management Program. -Illinois: Construction Management Program. -USC: Construction Management Program. -Cornell: Master in Engineering Management -DUKE: Master in Engineering Management I am still not sure whether to apply for Construction Management Programs or the MEM, so I guess I will apply on both. Also if any of you have any suggestions of similar programs or have had experiences with the ones I mentioned, any feedback would be helpful.....
-
Ok, too bad it does not have the experimental... I just finished my last Princeton test and found 2 typing errors. How is the Manhatan scores given? How about the Kaplan test? I found the free one very good, but I dont know if there is a paid package?
-
I have access to 4 princeton test but I think that is because I registered my account with a code from the book I bought. I would not recommend to buy them because they have multiple typing mistakes that can really affect your scores. Also they are in the new scores range which I do not think would be accurate before ETS publishes the scaled scores on November. Any other suggestions? I think I will buy the Manhatan test tomorrow then...

Thanks thats helpfull
-
I agree with you, thats basically what daisy concluded in a different post
-
Do you know where they publish it?
-
Thanks for the help... What can you tell me about the 30 dollar 5 exams packages? is it worth it? i have the 4 princeton practices test and many of them have some errors that really affect my scores.... How similar to the actual test are they? if anyone have used this practices test can give me some advice in weather to buy them?
-
Basically I am just looking for good practices test for the new GRE free or paid?
