  1. Does anyone have an inkling as the reputation of the school? It seems incredibly small and from what I gather is a new program so not great on their network. I've searched the forums but it appears information is kinda skewed as some people thought the school was great while others disparage it quite a bit. I need another school to apply to as due to circumstances, SAIS arent reading my app. What are people's thoughts on this program? Perhaps up against NYU's program in International Affairs. Thanks!
  2. SAIS have told me to take a hike. This despite me showing them my PDF score file and the date when I requested my scores to be sent via screenshot of my ETS page. Can't believe they would treat me that way.
  3. Yes. All the schools I requested my scores to be sent to. That's the confusing part. I'm going to have to wait to get ETS on the phone. I really cant believe this is happening to me.
  4. I'm not sure. ETS have been a nightmare to get a hold of and with the time difference, its to be expected. I guess I can check for that, thanks.
  5. Guys, I've been working abroad in Israel for the past month and I've found out today that ETS still haven't sent across my GRE scores! My application was fully complete for all the deadlines - Yale, SAIS, Chicago Harris, MSFS, and having taken the test, I just waited to hear back. And I finally got an email the other day, that my application is incomplete. With the time difference, its been incredibly hard to contact ETS (took the test in London), and my emails have been unanswered. I've contacted my schools but I'm not sure what to do right now. Is my application likely to be thrown out? I'm really distraught over this.
  6. I spoke to admissions yesterday and the deadline is 7 January 11.59 so you still have about 5-6 hours for finishing touches. I sent mine in earlier and I would be happy to go over your statement if you would like.
  7. Would be happy to help too if you need a second person!
  8. I agree but this was prior to some of the major changes they have made.
  9. Disclaimer: Yale is my first choice!
  10. Great find! A little surprised about Chicago making the top 10, and not Yale. Yale provides a greater flexibility in my opinion and with their renewed emphasis towards policy, a definite omission. I can't disagree with any other however.
  11. I'm generally using the same body and modifying it to each school's strengths.
  12. As SAIS are closed for the holidays, is it safe to assume the standard 10% rule beyond the word count applies?
  13. Done. Thanks!
  14. Link doesnt work.
  15. I'm having trouble integrating my masters degree in law into my IR SOP. Do I need to explain it, considering the topics are so diverse? My professor recommended I mention it, but primarily more in relation to the rep of the university I studied at. I don't feel its massively relevant but I dont want that to be the reason I get dinged! Anyone with thoughts as to how they may have dealt with a similar situation?
  16. Anyone willing to help??
  17. Congratulations to all those who were accepted! When you deferred, what does that mean exactly? Is it simply for the next round?
  18. Chicago Harris' MPP is quite quantitative in nature.
  19. Anyone interested in exchanging SOP or reading mine at least?
  20. I think you would get scope for about 10% - meaning 100 words. Generally, if you don't get up to say 1,500 (if the count is 1000), you should be fine with 1100-1200.
  21. Wow. The one on here is my post. Wow. I didnt realise there had been another post displaying my credentials (or remarkably similar)! I apologise for the confusion but I've disclosed plenty of information on this forum too, and I sincerely appreciated the information provided to me. I dont understand why someone felt the need to duplicate a profile but it certainly isnt me. I am actually shocked. As I said, I absolutely appreciate the information provided, and am grateful for those who even got in touch with me via message, so contrary to what you think, it wasnt a waste of time for me. I have actually been away from the site for a while, getting down to crafting my statements, and general application stuff and returned to seek someone to swap SOP's with, but instead found this. Again..wow.
  22. Why is there such negativity in this thread? Why do people keep downvoting everyone on here?
  23. I have one chance to take the new test in order to boost the chances of me receiving as much aid as possible for grad school (reading for an MA in international relations). I have 9 weeks before I would have to schedule the test. I have taken the old test before. Did reasonably well (Q740 v690) but I know I can do better. Questions: 1) How did you begin your studying for the GRE? 2) Are 9 weeks enough? Thanks!
