I hope your sentiments come to fruition, too, sneeze! The big downside of being in the UK during this process is that I have to wait until 2pm before there's a chance of hearing anything from a school on the East coast of the US! How is everyone coping with the stress? Yesterday I decided cope by watching Hey Arnold and eating shortbread for most (all) of the day.

Does anyone want to be super cool and email Yale to find out what the deal is? I'm too much of a chicken.
-
Truth! Guess it's not to be for any of us! Does anyone have any clue as to what the deal is with Yale? None of us have heard anything about interviews. Maybe they're not interviewing this year? Or...
-
I was also rejected from Princeton and admitted to Michigan a few minutes later! I'm actually more surprised by the admit than by the rejection, because, while I was aware that my research interests don't fit in terribly well with the Princeton faculty, I don't think I have a much better fit with Michigan!

Me, too! Luckily I'll be at Götterdämmerung starting at 5pm GMT, so I won't be able to be too obsessive...
-
Yeah, I'm sure you're right about next week! Fingers crossed... They won't tell us anything over the weekend, will they?
-
No news from Harvard, or anywhere else today! Congrats to the person who got admitted to Eastman though! Nice
-
I have! I am thinking we won't hear until after this weekend though, as I'd imagine they're busy over there with the Taruskin conference. Congrats I haven't heard anything from Columbia, though I applied for musicology, not theory, so I suppose I still have hope. My application hasn't even been updated, so... Maybe they forgot about me a really long time ago

Truth! I may be deluding myself-- for, as you rightly say, I, too, am in a fragile state of mind at the moment--but I find the Harvard admit to be very fishy, considering that none of us have heard anything from Harvard and they, according to last year's admissions thread, didn't even have their admissions meeting until mid-February.
-
Absolutely Wait until you've gotten official word from the schools--Don't make any assumptions based on anonymous posts in the results forum. Honestly, some of them may very well be fraudulent.

Hey friends, Someone I know just heard from CUNY (admitted). Look out for results soon!
-
They are probably only interviewing their top candidates (approximately 1.5-2 times the number of people they will admit), at least that's the way it was (or so I heard) for the interview I did at Penn a few weeks ago.
-
Every time I get an e-mail, I have a minor heart-attack. I think I will hibernate for the next two and a half weeks... for safety's sake...
-
Well done, bshelley1 No idea about Yale... This week, maybe?
-
My Penn Skype interview was audio and video, so plan on having both just to be safe!
-
Speaking of interviews, anyone hear news from Yale?
-
Also, a Harvard admit went up in the results board? Wasn't me...
-
My Cornell application finally says complete, in big capital letters! Thanks, Cornell
-
Thanks for the clarification regarding Cornell, snes! I made a little chart of when we might hear from various schools based on last year's results (though Stanford and Berkeley have notified us much earlier than they did last year): Michigan - approx 3 Feb Yale - approx 4 Feb for interviews, approx 17 Feb for results Cornell - approx 8 Feb Princeton - approx 10 Feb Penn - approx 15 Feb Harvard - approx 19 Feb Columbia - approx 24 Feb This makes me feel marginally better, though I am still on pins and needles all day long!
-
Has anyone emailed Cornell to find out what the deal is with our applications being incomplete? I'm thinking of writing to ask what's going on with that.

Sh*t people say when you are applying to grad school

"It's not too late to apply to law school!" Other least favorite: After I got into Berkeley, my parents were going on about how worried they were that I didn't have a back-up plan. It's like, guys, I just got into a great school, why are you still going on about back-up plans? -
Good luck, all! You'll all do brilliantly, I'm sure I'm on pins and needles this week, too, as I'm thinking that Yale and Columbia interview invitations may be arriving within days! Yikes!!
-
That's a possible reason, I suppose. We should find out about Yale interviews in the next week or two, I'd imagine... And I assume all results should be out by the end of February.
