I got my scholarship info very soon after my acceptance. I received my acceptance the 24th of February, and received my financial info the 28th. So, hopefully that's how it is with you as well.

Are schools allowed to do this..?
kldfweldsc replied to crazystacyyyyy's topic in Social Workers Forum
Yeah, it's pretty normal, unfortunately. Each of the schools I got into had a deadline. I ended up accepting to one school and paying the deposit, because I hadn't received an acceptance to any other by the deadline. After receiving acceptance to another and getting substantial financial aid, I decided to accept to the second school and rescind my acceptance to the first school. Don't be too stressed out about it, if you're not going to that school. But, if another school has a similiar deadline, be sure to email them that you're waiting on other schools and ask them to extend the deadline for you. -
Haha, thanks! This account is linked to my facebook, hence the multiple picture changes.
-
Haha, Thanks! You're grand, too! I mean, I even kinda like my face, "fat" with "caked on makeup" and all.
-
Hahaha. Yup, about sums it up.
-
I mean, please let's just take into account that not only was I called unintelligent, but I was called fat, and a bitch. And I reacted with a sincere hope that they receive help. I think I did my part here.
-
I sincerely hope that you receive help for your anger issues. Oh, and...your*.
-
Congratulations, you have proved a point, and not the one you were trying to make.

Not ONE of my posts could even be considered hostile until you posted your latest rantings. In my first post, I stated why GPA is not weighted more heavily. In my second post, I explained that you can't judge others based on their stats and that you should resist taking your anger out on others who have already gotten in. In my 3rd post I said a date. And in my last post, I got fed up with your immature attitude and simply stated something.
-
I was just making a statement. How could you POSSIBLY account for tone in an online forum?
-
Guess that's why we've been accepted and well, you... Yeah.
-
I *think* its April 15th...but I'm not sure.
-
It is infuriating, but you NEVER know what someone has put into their application, and has given the schools to review. Maybe not the best GPA, but maybe their personal statement showed something you can't see. I'm just saying, before lashing out about how superior you are to other people on the site, you should realize that there is ALWAYS more to someone than just what their stats say, and unless you read their application, you cannot make judgments as to whether you should have gotten in over them. Realize that people with the lower GPA's that got in are reading what you're writing, when you're saying is that they didn't deserve it because you haven't gotten in.
-
When did you apply? If you applied late, then it's more likely that the bar gets raised for those they are admitting. I applied specifically early because my GPA isn't as high. I also think it's kind of judgmental to say that you're somehow superior because your GPA is higher than others without knowing their situation. For instance, I was a double major, my GPA for both my majors was above a 3.5 but my overall GPA was a 3.1. But I also worked six jobs during college to pay for it, and that explains a lot. That's why they don't only rely on GPA. The heart and ability to be a good social worker doesn't soley rely on how well you did on the classes you decided to take in undergrad.

I've heard they won't send decisions until April. However, I could be wrong.
-
Hey guys! I figured I'd start a thread for those who have made their final decisions, so that we can connect with people that will be in the same programs! I'll be a Wolverine at the University of Michigan starting this Fall, under the Interpersonal Practice/Mental Health area.

I feel like we need to take our friendship to the next level. Like..facebook? Do you have a social networking site you prefer? Because I'm a social network junkie.

I did. I rescinded on Thursday. I just sent an email thanking them for taking the time to review my application and that I'm honored that they would accept me, but because of different reasons and a scholarship to another school, I have to do what's best for me financially, and unfortunately, because of that, I've got to rescind my previous acceptance to Maryland. They emailed me and said thank you for letting them know. ARE YOU GOING TO MICHIGAN? YOU SHOULD!A

This is what I did with Maryland, paid the deposit and then if I get substantial financial aid from Michigan, I'll just retract my admission.
