  1. Yes, I believe your out of state tuition stays the same unless you get residency status to be in-state.
  2. Very realistic. Look, once you have a bachelor's degree you can literally work anywhere you want in the world. So long as you're proficient in English, and you are willing to pick up a second or third language. Many Americans think its a myth and a pipe dream to find full employment in another country other than the US because we are so familiar with our immigration laws we forget that other countries actually look for highly educated and qualified individuals to contribute to their economy. Anyway with that being said. Getting a work/culture/education visa is not going to be difficult with a PHD also you are open to a lot of different occupations abroad. Anyway get your foot in the door with that first job. Also check out Fullbright. Yes, it is competitive. So what? The worse you can do is no apply because well you make it easier for someone else to get it because they chose to give it a go. XD Anyway I have a professor who just took a job in Macau and he's very excited about the new opportunity before him. Anyway I hope to have an international oriented career. I'm not going to sit here and let some yank tell me that its unrealistic because they haven't done it, and don't know how to do it. Tip: Someone who discourages you from this goal you must question their life experiences, you must question if they have ever left the US before, you must also question if they have ever been offer a job overseas or a chance to study overseas. If they have none of those experiences then don't take them seriously. Anyone who has had those experiences know that what you are proposing is very much plausible.
  3. they said it was a typo sooo I guess it's play the waiting game. I was wondering would be be good to send a letter? I dunno I have seen people mention this before, but will this actually help? They know I am still interested in the program
  4. With the field he is in. He cannot even begin to fathom a career until he pursues his Master's. Of course there are a lot of things to do if you're American. PEace Corps, Americorps etc. Overall I think its a good move if you know exactly what you're doing. There is no useless degree out there people who say that usually say it because they do not know what you can do with a degree outside of engineering and accounting.
  5. It starts Spring 2012. I too am under the strong impression that this is just a typo. I will need to notify Peace Corps regardless as they really have worked with me and very hard to keep my application active. decisions, and choices. Will it help if I send additional material, or contact them to confirm that December 15 2012 is a typo?
  6. This isn't something to worry about. If certain employers are using this to judge the character of their candidates then that employer is unfit for the recruiting process. Overall what a person does during their free time is theirs to do unless it compromises the company/institution. It's a bit hypocritical to know that the generation that abused drugs and alcohol during their youth is turning around with such draconian standards that applicants are scared that a photo of them at a house party shows up or a photo of them drinking a beer at Chili's can dash their hopes for finding future employment/ university admission. I think I wouldn't worry about it. I actually fired someone from my project for just that exact reason. This guy recruited people who had the appearance of decent character, but at the end of the day I was looking for candidates that could get the job done. I dunno seeing a party pic, and knowing the candidate's qualifications demonstrates a level of responsibility that shows more than someone who is a boyscout. Anyway just my 2 lil cents. my 2 yen my 2 kurus.
  7. So I got on the wait list for my program in MS in Conflict Analysis & Resolution Master's International program with Peace Corps at George Mason University. In a way normally they said most applicants get into their program then join the peace corps. But I got nominated for the Peace Corps prior to applying for this program. I applied for the program in July. This is a long time playing the waiting game. I found out I was on the waiting list this Monday. Within the e-mail they said I will be considered for openings in the program after December, 15th 2012. I was shocked!! That's a whole year!!, and Peace Corps is waiting to hear the results of rather I was accepted or rejected. As this affects my placement. I was curious, but could that be a typo, and they really meant to say December 15th 2011? It wouldn't make any sense. Likewise I feel if it is accurate they are punishing me for applying for the Spring semester instead of the Fall semester. I know you can say "you should have applied for Fall 2011 instead" but that was and is stilll an unreasonable expectation due to personal circumstances of the year (tsunami in Japan dashed my job hunting dreams, university had me return to graduate into the US market jobless. Anyway I looked into this program after I was nominated into Peace Corps because I wouldn't be leaving until another year, and this was after I had went through all of the clearances.) Sooo with the circumstances being what it is. They want me to expect that it is a realistic thing to just wait until after Dec. 15th 2012. Anyway I wanted to post this to get some advice as what to do. Seeing with the current knowledge I know from the acceptance letter I won't be considered for Fall 2012 either.
