  1. I applied to only PhD programs...idk about the masters, but I should think it would be the same as what shaydlip said...it does makes sense. Good luck though, I hope it pans out for you. Ps. stop n stare was such an awesome song
  2. on the bright (un-lame) side though...I made Caffienated yesterday, and Expresso today.
  3. Nice...congrats. Ps.If you do choose not to go there, can you (literally lol) tell UD to consider my taking your place? idk if I am on the waiting-list or anything...but I NEED to get in somewhere.
  4. @ coyabean: wow...(that's all I've to say: wow)
  5. true...I look forward to just being back in school, on track with my life...finally trying to figure out what exactly Operations Research (my field) is all about
  6. Wow, that's just one crappy situation.
  7. lol I understand...I'm also ready to move to NY...as soon as Columbia/Cornell sends me my acceptance notification! God how I pray for that...
  8. How I wish we could share this feeling experience with the world. Let them know how we feel, what we are going through...I wonder if we could make a TV Show out of this...I wonder what changes ad comms would make after they got to see the show...I wonder none of this will ever happen lol
  9. George Jetson (think of his boss shouting: Geooooooooooooooooorge Jetson)
  10. It's almost March 15th, and while we may have received some decisions from some schools; a lot of us are still waiting for other programs to inform us of their decisions. While I remain ever hopeful (I have no other choice - grad school is my only option ), a part of me asks: what are the chances of those of us still waiting to hear from graduate schools? Are our chances any higher because we lasted this long in the 'waiting period? or are we actually not in the game (so to speak), but simply kept in the loop for some grand reason? idk...what do you feel?
  11. its funny, while everyone is trying to get off the list, I'm trying to get on the list
  12. Prada Shoes
  13. I know they definitely send out rejections by regular mail (I got two of those this year ). But do ad comms send out acceptances by regular mail? This will definitely save me all the hassle of going to the mail box at 4pm sharp everyday lol
  14. Then again, I don't know all the details; you do. If its not your top 2/3 schools, or you already got accepted into a better program,....these things factor into your decision. If I did get accepted by another school/rejected by this one...I would still go...even if its just to show them what they could-a had lol
  15. I would say go for it either way. If you haven;t heard word from them yet, then you can motivate them to choose you at the meet n greet (when you say something profound/do something geeky/good). If you get rejected (I doubt this), then I would say that if its not too much trouble, GO. It wouldn't hurt. they cant reject you twice! Besides by going, they could see that you really do like the school/program and they may reconsider your application (unlikely, but it never hurts to give it your best). GO GO GO
  16. dude, its never over till its over...don't curse yourself. Be hopeful. Have faith. For now, you are still in the game. I wish you the best. And if things don't work out as you would have liked them to this year; you can always apply next year. The world isn't going to end if you don't get in...it will hurt like hell (been there - last year), but if you hang in there; it will all work out. (about now knowing what to do for a year; have faith in yourself - after all, you cam this far - you can (&will figure it out). Good luck. I wish you the best.
  17. I am also waiting for word from CMU...I applied for OR. I am hoping to god, that I get in...I just love that school - kinda like a girl in love with Mathew McConahey (idk his name lol) - All I know is I am Tepper's biggest fan; I need to get in there
  18. Definitely agree. I love math and OR to death, but I want my ideal mate to be into something totally unrelated to what I'm doing/into. My gf now is into art/medicine, and I love that about her. There's just something about you sharing stuff to someone you love...knowing that they don't fully get all the details, but they get your passion for it, and will listen to you ALL day long.
  19. Need to get accepted first though. GOD PLEASE HELP!!!
  20. Yeah I have been thinking on this for quite some time now. Because I'm an international student here in the US, and my work permit recently ran out, I will not be able to apply to any of the national labs (they are wayy cool and some have programs for recent grads, about-to-be-grads, as well as typical undergrad internships - e.g Oak Ridge National Lab. But if I get accepted, I plan to spend my summer: 1). Going through the (golden) Calculus book and figuring everything out - I need to be back on my game 2). Do some independent research (on my own) - going to be something on this African board game (also played in China too). I will try to do some programming and match my research to something similar to what a prof might be doing in whatever school accepts me...it will be programming intensive and I need to figure out the AI thingy (the game would need to be adaptive to strategies). Hopefully I can present this at a conference, come Oct/Nov...idk 3). Get as much sleep and exercise as I can. May not have the chance to do that in a while
  21. wow...airport hotels huh...I would prefer hotels by a beach lol. About the other stuff, I would say you are right though. With banks hiring less, more people (those about to leave school; leaving school; recently left school, may decide grad school is a better option than whatever else they would have done/liked to do. Combined with the depleted funds in many programs, things could get (or rather; ARE) crazily competitive.
  22. dude, how&when did UDel contact you? (if you dont mind sharing) I applied there too, but I have not received any word back from them
  23. In the engineering section, there is a topic on Operations Research/Industrial Engineering. I think you should post your question there or read the first couple pages...I think I remember seeing some posts about the best programs and what-not. Good Luck to you and your friend.
  24. I definitely agree with you. I mean people got accepted/rejected from Cornell and Carnegie Mellon already, can't they PLEASE just send me my acceptance already lol. What did you apply for at Tepper? OR/ACO, what? ps. good luck to everyone else still waiting
  25. Definitely agree witchu...I look forward to NOT obsessing over my emails every 10/15 minutes during the work week.
