  1. Hi and congrats, eaw53 and bigrelief! I'm for sure going to visit. Is it reasonable to be really intimidated and scared about fielding calls from POIs/ the ad comm over the next few weeks?
  2. Thank you all so much! I got an email from Martin Puchner, DGS and my central POI, this morning. 1) I have the biggest case of impostor syndrome ever. 2) Thank you, gradcafe, for being such an incredible support system throughout the application process! You are such a wonderful, intelligent, interesting group of people and I'm totally going to read your book in 7 years.
  3. I just got in. I don't even know what to do.
  4. I sure hope everyone thinks I look like Picasso in a bull head on the riviera. I could go for being that.
  5. In a signature in the acceptee banter thread.
  6. Hey, Aubergine! Congrats on Tisch and TAPS! I had an agonizing summer deciding between English and theatre programs (I'm interested in adaptation-- Rachel Dickstein style). Hope I made the right choice
  7. I saw one interviewee claim to be "short listed"... Have the others gotten such feedback? No formal acceptances or rejections yet?
  8. Is anyone else having extreme job apathy knowing you'll be gone in a few months? Like, I'm gonna need this money, but can I please just quit and go read books all day? Signed, Paralegal Sneakily Posting at Work
  9. Yes, the 6 was just for comp lit. The ENGL and CMPL departments just merged 2 years ago; the ad comms still meet separately.
  10. I work at Chapel Hill-- Comp Lit was allowed to accept 6 for a target cohort of 3-4.
  11. To be fair, our research doesn't have to be important to get in somewhere, we just had to demonstrate that eventually we'll be making important work. Furthermore, the scholarship that I love reading is hardly ever "important"... I like the quirky stuff.
  12. ME TOO. Every (implicit) rejection makes me think, "yesssss, March is going to be SO CAREFREE!" I only applied to the programs where I would LOVE to spend 5-6 years, so the "only needed one" thing has been particularly true for me. I'm so grateful (though if I'm 1 for 8 I might get a few of those impostor feelings)
  13. Aaaaaand the rejections have begun.
  14. Congrats, all! Amazing!
  15. Haha, seconded. It doesn't help that it seems our interests greatly overlap. A toast to El Grimwig at Austin weekend...?
  16. Haha yeah I definitely spent a hot minute on Facebook this morning trying to figure out who was who among us I'm so excited about this program!
  17. Congrats, Grimwig! Considering I'm applying with a science-y approach to British Modernism/Woolf, I'm pretty sure you've nabbed any spot I may have had, though... chapeau to you!
  18. I'm all for a g+ hangout if there's another big simultaneous decision rollout!
  19. I think most Woolfians start foaming at the mouth when people talk about Michael Cunningham...
  20. Woo hoo! Bdon, are you wanting to work with Thompson? One of the best teachers I've ever had.
  21. White squirrels?!?!? SAY NO MORE.
  22. OMG TripWillis this made me laugh so hard.
  23. Bdon and Marlowe, I'm definitely going! So excited! And Myshkinlit, my email detailed their full funding and tuition remission and explained options for additional funding. It also linked me to a page to apply for a summer and relocation fellowship.
  24. I GOT IN I GOT IN I GOT IN. I AM SO HAPPY. My first feedback! This week was so sad with 3 implicit rejections, then a few days later... le joy. MARGARITA TIME, Y'ALL.
