  1. If you are applying to unis like Oxbridge, St Andrews, Edinburgh, etc…you should be fine! Some of these names are bigger and better than American schools.
  2. Hi all! I'll be going to Oxford this fall for a Master's in Social Anthropology. Anybody else heading to England?
  3. Hi all! Can someone tell me a bit more about Oxford tutorials? Thanks!
  4. Hi all: Could someone tell me a bit more about Oxford's anthropology program, the tutorial system, the colleges, and life compared to the States? Thanks!
  5. Hi all, I was accepted for one year taught master degrees at UCL and LSE. I'm an American and hope to work abroad (in Asia) after graduating. Which of the schools is more international renown? In the States, much more people have heard of LSE than UCL….what do you think? THX
  6. Hi all, How does a Masters (MSc) from England transfer over when you are applying to PhD programs in the states? I was accepted for a one-year Msc Social-Cultural Anthropology at the London School of Economics. When applying for PhD programs, do you get to skip the first year that focuses on theory/general courses? Does having a Masters from an internationally renown school help you get into better graduate programs (like top-tier)? Thanks!
  7. I did my junior year abroad at SOAS studying social-cultural anthropology. I didn't enjoy it. The professors lecture, the students were not that engaged, and I felt they moved too fast to really learn the subject. Also SOAS has no recognition outside of London...
