  1. I just went to their open house. Their facilities are really nice, but they do not have a onsite clinic. Clinicals begin in the second semester at various placement sites. Most of the professors are from the University of Florida. One was from U of Mississippi, and another from U of Iowa. The director said they don't have score/gpa cutoffs, and that they really do look at the whole package (SOP, LOR, resume, etc).
  2. I just overeat.
  3. Does anybody have any advice for attending an open house? It's supposed to be a breakfast, tour, and info session. Is business casual okay dress?
  4. I asked another professor and she said yes!
  5. I addressed an issue in my statement: ...I was on track to attend graduate school, but due to personal circumstances in my senior year, I postponed my plans. Disappointing as my decision was, I knew could not balance the demands of graduate school at that time. Now, I am able to see what I had once considered to be a setback, as an opportunity for personal and professional growth. The experiences I have gained over the last three years have help shape my interests and career goals. Personally, I didn't go into a lot of detail (I had word/page limits). I addressed it and explained how it helped me get to this point. I say address it, but focus more on how you grew from the experiences.
  6. The professor? No. I see you're applying there, too! At this point I think I'm going to ask another professor. I just hate to ask last minute.
  7. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm in a similar position. I want to send my professor another reminder email, but I have no idea what to say. Any advice? Also, if I decide to ask another professor, should I make her aware of the situation? Should I tell her that my last writer backed out at the last minute?
  8. Sometime in March for most. Valdosta and Jacksonville have application deadlines on March 1st, so I wont hear back until May.
  9. My professor still hasn't written the letter that was due last Thursday.
  10. I sent my forms to two of my letter writers in early December. They both said they would have them out within a couple days (though I know only one did). Flash forward to the beginning of January when I emailed two separate people to check the receipt of all of my supplemental materials. I finally got a response a week later saying they didnt have my LoRs, but that they were still going through mail. A couple days after that (I guess when they finished) they confirmed they didn't have them (Monday). So I emailed both professor and asked if they could send out another copy (as long as it was postmarked by the 15th). One professor answered back right away, and she asked if she could fax it. I didn't see a problem with that because the form said "when completed mail to .... fax...." but I said I would call to confirm (also on Monday). So I called the school and left my name, number and question. Then I emailed again on Tuesday. No response to either. So yesterday at 6pm (6 hours before the deadline) I finally get a call back saying faxes were not acceptable, but they could email a copy of the form by 11:59pm. I emailed both professors and randomly got a response from the one who never replies. He emails me the completed form, I replied back saying he needed to submit them directly to the school, he never confirmed that he did, so I'm not sure if that one made it. The professor who has been really great at sending letters never responded, but I don't hold that against her. I'm pretty pissed off. I'm about to send the graduate office an email that I hope doesn't sound too b*tchy.
  11. LoRs have been the most stressful part of the application process. Two have been great, but the other is sketchy. I never know which email he'ill respond to, or if he's even seen the others. I have two deadlines tonight. I know one school is flexible, but the other is not (and they are super unorganized). What sucks the most is that I'll be out approx. $75.
  12. Im applying to 8, but I've only submitted 7 so far. I'm waiting to go to Jacksonville's open house so I can adjust my SOP (it's a new program and they don't have a lot of info online). I'm really nervous. Sometimes I'm really optimistic, but most of the time I'm not .
  13. I believe they are the avg/range of the admitted students.
  14. That's pretty much what I've heard, and it makes me a little nervous. I was in the major during my sophmore/junior, so my last 60 hours contains a senior year of unrelated electives that I didn't do so well(personal issues). I just hope the adcomm can see that reflected in my transcript/sop. I even completed a graduate certificate in ASD to offset my senior year. Are the GPAs listed on edfind cumulative or the last 60 hours?
  15. I'm in the same position. I have 2 deadlines on the 15th and only one professor has submitted her letters. I think I'm going to wait until Friday to send a reminder. My online applications have a 'remind' function, so I'll use that instead of a personal email.
  16. Study! You still have plenty of time to raise your GPA. Figure out why you haven't done well before, and take the steps to fix it. GPA and GRE scores aren't the only part of your application. What are you doing to supplement your application?
  17. I'll send you a PM!
  18. Depends on the school. Some programs required supplemental materials be sent directly to the program, and others were through graduate admissions.
  19. I've called and emailed. I sent most of my stuff in December and I wanted to make sure nothing got lost.
  20. Anybody? I'm mostly looking for some grammar feedback.
  21. Would anyone be interested in giving me some feedback for my SOP over a PM? It's for master's in Speech-Language Pathology. Let me know!
  22. Im not positive but I think this school mainly pulls students from their own undergrad program.
  23. I could if you are still looking. Maybe we could swap?
  24. I'm looking for the same! I can return the favor (though I don't know how helpful I'll be).
  25. I just finished a first draft and I'm looking to have someone read it. Could anyone help me out?
