  1. Columbia has the better overall CS department but as you mentioned it's all about research and particular advisers. It's also in NYC (better industry links obviously). I heard that Columbia is investing heavily in the Fu Foundation departments to get on par with other top schools, so it's a safer bet.
  2. Stop the wishful thinking... we're all rejected (or waitlisted, which is again most probably reject)
  3. No result = reject (or waitlist with a 1/50 shot late in the summer)
  4. Yes. You'll know about your rejection/waitlist next week. At least it's how they played it last year.
  5. I applied but not been contacted for anything... can this mean reject? Do they interview all incoming students?

  9. It's too early... I applied to CMU and UIUC for for PhD in ECE.
