Hello everyone! I will be attending UIUC for a PhD in History. I will also be moving end of May/beginning of June for SPI.
-
Thank you climagiste and fanon_fanatic, I appreciate your input!

Hello everyone! I spend most of my time on the history threads but would really love some input from my fellow interdisciplinary scholars. Do you think a History PhD or an American Studies PhD is more marketable for Univeristy teaching? I specialize in American Indian history and identity formation. I recieved very strong opinions about which is better for obtaining a job, but no one has won me over to either side. I would love to hear what the communities opinion is.

Just received my email from UVA, which brings my season to an end. Now all that is left is decisions.

It does make me feel better that some males are being asked the same ridiculous questions about their personal life. On another note, I love the Llama!
-
It drives me nuts that none of these questions are asked of my male colleagues. I guess it just goes to show how "progressive" we really are.

As a female I get these two alot: "Are you getting a divorce? " "How are you going to manage having kids in grad school?" (Ugh, I'm not)

Thanks Trip and Dust. Trip, from what I have heard the funding in the American Studies department is very limited. The funding I was offered is through a graduate school Fellowship, not directly through the department. -

Everyone seems to keep reccommending boots. Is this for warmth or because there may be snow in March? -
If you have not heard from IU I thinks things are leaning at least a little in your favor. I hope both of you recieve good news from them soon! Does anyone think that U Va will send out decisions this week?

I still have not heard anything from Buffalo. However I was already accepted to Indiana Urbana-Champaign so I'm not sure it maters that much. -

OMG! I just received an email from the grad secretary at U Illinois saying that my letter was returned to their office and that they would resend it via snail mail and email me a copy of my acceptance. It has been a crazy two days for me. I am overwhelmed with so many emotions!
-
Congrats to everyone who received acceptances so far today! It's amazing how many schools have already notified people, but in the grand scheme of things it has only been a few. I can't wait to see what the next couple of weeks brings to all the amazing scholars on this thread!
-
Congrats to everyone that was accepted today!
-
Just got a call from the Grad Chair at Nebraska. I'm in!!! Masters with full funding and a stipend!!!

I also received the dreaded letter from Indiana. Im not surprised since my POI emailed me in January telling me she was likely moving to another school for a tenured position. Congrats to those who received acceptances and funding offers today! Send some of your positive juju those of us still waiting for good news.
