      Eh, some of it is legit family concerns, but a lot is me being whiny about grad school stuff. I need to snap out of it and try harder to be happy.

      see_bella, I know waitlists are frustrating, but that's good news! I hope you get in! And yes, I'm definitely going to need the glasses. I've heard grad school does terrible things to eyes. Between going to class, reading, and computer use, it makes sense!

      eco_env, I originally saw it that way too, but when I saw that many people are doing nice things for themselves as rewards for hard work, I felt less guilty and decided to do the same.

      Haha That is so true. The whole application process forces you to objectify yourself to the standards of the adcom that it becomes hard to evaluate yourself by any other metric afterwards.
