  1. Got my letter in AB. Successful. Had to drive home from camping because I didn't believe my dad on the phone reading the letter to me. Stats: Direct applicant to first year M.A Small undergrad university, not well-known (no allocation) 3.3 GPA, so not stellar by any stretch but Honours degree recipient No major scholarships or any research/teaching experience One small journal publication Four undergraduate conferences Awesome letters And I spent 20+ hours on my proposal, which I still am in love with and intend to pursue. I guess it paid off. CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!
  2. Nothing in Edmonton today. I'm a direct applicant, So I'm waiting for a rejection.
  3. Excellent. And that is exactly what I meant by "stats." Good job!
  4. Congratulations. Stats? BTW, any direct applicants get a SSHRC?
  5. Canada Post is pretty good with lettermail, since it still moves over the weekend. So chances are it is in your city and being sorted into your walks overnight tonight or overnight tomorrow (if you live in a more rural or out of the way area).
  6. All this chatter on here makes me sad that I live so far from Ottawa.
  7. That's great. Congrats again. I am much farther west, so hopefully I get my mail soon. You must have had a great proposal!
  8. Post your stats, please. So we can all learn from one another.
  9. Post your app info? Program, year, conferences/awards/publications, direct applicant or through your school, etc. THANKS! AND CONGRATULATIONS!
  10. YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS BEFORE WE ALL HAVE HEART ATTACKS.
  11. I like how people on Twitter are starting to get angrier at SSHRC. They better hurry up.
  12. That is something I have been trying to figure out as well. Hrm....
  13. SSHRC just keeps saying "soon" on Twitter. Jerks. Hurry up!
  14. *sigh* not today, I guess....
  15. Maybe tomorrow, then!!
  16. I don't think that's what it means....
  17. That seems ridiculous. I wonder if they clean it for you while you're in class. Haha.
  18. Mid to late May? That is such crap. There are probably people waiting to decide which school to go to depending on SSHRC.
  19. Canada Post works around the clock seven days per week. It's only the letter carriers and parcel delivery that is only Mon-Fri. So the letters from SSHRC have a pretty good chance of making it to their appropriate cities or at least being sorted into their appropriate cities over the weekend. But the people who work in the mail processing plants often work midnights and weekends.
  20. The doctoral SSHRC forum seems to expect letters to be mailed out this week. Here's to hoping ours are mailed out at the same time.
  21. I emailed them, and they said end of April for the MA SSHRC, so either they've changed it or they don't know what the heck they're talking about.
  22. I submitted two writing samples of 10 pages each that I edited down and worked on quite a bit so that they were strong. I think it worked in my favour.
  23. I found out that I was not successful for two of my provincial awards, so I really hope I receive a SSHRC. Or I will be so broke.
  24. No, I couldn't afford the trip, since I live out West. I visited the campus last summer, though. I'm moving down there in June.
  25. The GES FAQ is awesome! I read that when I applied. Delarosa, are you going to be at Queen's in English next year? If so, I am sure we will meet.
