  1. @ Montrealer: Congrats. Hopefully Zee2012 will receive his/her own soon.
  2. Zee2012 & Montrealer: remember to share on the thread when you get your acceptance from SFU. Keeping faith for you both.
  3. @ Bloom2012 and SFU Crew, SFU off campus Housing may be the best bet to avoid scams. Will also be good if one can get across to current SFU students whether in MPH program on not. There could be people looking for room mates or they'll give insight and advice on areas to go off. Just my thoughts. Am also thinking sharing housemates (sharing of common areas but getting one room and bath each) to reduce cost. I guess its too early to be seriously hunting now for september move in. Though its better early than late.
  4. Personally I prefer off campus. Though you may want to live away from home if its going to be a distraction in your studies.I'd say live at home if conducive for reading. As for commuting to school, 40mins is not bad since traffic is not heavy.
  5. @ The SFU Crew: what's your take and plan on housing, Campus Residence or Off Campus? If off campus what's your plan to securing one? Please let's share thoughts on this. @ Montrealer and Zee2012: I see you reside in Canada so its going to be easier for you both. I know you may not be thinking of housing yet since you're yet to get your official acceptance but once you do, do share your plans and thoughts. You all can PM me if you don't want to share openly.
  6. @ Bloom2012,Zee2012,Dentist24: Thanks a lot. @ Zee2012, Montrealer: your acceptance is on the way and its only in a little while since they've started rolling out to students accepted off the waitlist. Keep faith and hold out.
  7. Got my admission offer from SFU yesterday. The email read " Dear ... I am pleased to inform you that the Senate Graduate Committee has approved your admission to the health sciences MPH in Simon Fraser University for the 2012 Fall Term ... "
  8. @ Montrealer and All on the thread: Any news from SFU?
  9. @ Montrealer: Zee2012 just expressed my fear. Wouldn't want to wait for nothing because I already have a Formal Admission Letter (email copy) from another school though am yet to accept cos they gave no deadline.I want to make an informed decision. Wouldn't want to accept and then later write in declining and asking to be released.SFU is my 1st choice though but with the delay, I really don't know. Also am an international student and will still apply for Visa. The embbassy in my country says their processing time is 3-4 months minimum before school/program classes start date. By this, am already behind. Thanks Montrealer let's know what information you got after you've placed a call to SFU.
  10. @ Montrealer: Good to know its not just us but the waiting is no fun at all. Praying and keeping my fingers crossed.
  11. @ Spinous and Dentist24: I received a mail from U of Saskatchewan as regards the conditional in my Admission Offer. They asked me to mail a certified Copy of my degree parchment from my Undergrad school confirming that the degree has been awarded and an Official Transcript from my Grad School in a sealed envelope. They didn't explain why I had to do this since I did submit Transcripts from both schools for my Applications. The conditional is not an issue to me though, I only need to send in a request to my schools and they'll mail it to them. @ Everybody on the Thread, am yet to receieve the Formal Admission Letter from the office of the DGS of Simon Fraser University.
  12. @ Dentist24 and Spinous: Thanks for replying. Its so strange to me, my transcripts that they are asking for was submitted together with my Admissions Application Package so am wondering why they are still asking for it. Well I'll send them an email on Monday to let them know and find out why and if I still need to send in another one or maybe they'll go pull it out from my Application for Admissions Package.
  13. @ Dentist24 and the whole U of Saskatchewan crew, I got an email from the CGSR today and one of the conditions for registration is to send my Official Transcripts to them. My question now is was everybody else given this same condition? Pls let me know.Thank You.
  14. I got off the Waitlist of MPH Simon Fraser University. Am so happy as its my 1st choice and of course there's nothing like an acceptance from a school even if its a safety school and you eventually won be attending. Good Luck to those still waiting, keep your heads up high and for those who got rejected and have no Acceptance to any school, remember "If you don't succeed, dust yourself up and try again".
  15. SFU students accepted off the Wait list, please remember to share when you receive any correspondence or the email copy of your Formal Admission Letter. Thank You All.
  16. @Dentist24: SFU has sent me me 2 emails. One said that I have been accepted of the waitlist, the other was a recommendation to the DGS for a Formal Admission Letter to be sent to me. Am yet to get the email copy of the Final Admission Letter. Which school do you mean I should expect from between June 15-18 and why this date? Pls would love to know. I really hope all correspondence will get to me this month as the Canadian Embassy in my country Nigeria states that TRV/Study Permit Applications should be submitted within 3-4 months of the school start date. I've missed out on 4months so am hoping to meet up with submitting within 3months of school start date. How far have you gone with your Visa/Study Permit Application? Hope all preprations are moving on fine for you.
  17. Hi People, I finally got my Official Admission email (got the recommendation email since Feb 24) from U of Saskatchewan this evening. The email said that the Formal Letter will be mailed and I should contact CGSR if I don't receive it after 3weeks.
  18. @MPH0000: I also got accepted off the waitlist into MPH-Global Health Stream. The Recommendation email didn't include any funding. We'll see if any will be offered when we get the Formal Admission Letter. The SFU student I mentioned earlier in my posts was given $2000.
  19. @Ht123 also: I forgot to mention that the SFU student on this forum also informed me that he got the email copy of his Formal Admission letter 1 week after receiving the recommendation and accepting through email. He then paid the $250 and after one week, got the Hard/Paper in his mail. Just thought you may wonder and would like to know. But I guess the time frame in receiving the Hard/Paper in the mail might differ from country to country.
  20. @Ht123: I learnt from an SFU student on this forum that the email copy of the Formal Admission Letter will be sent after the lengthy Recommendation email that says that an acceptance email should be sent to their email. It is when you receive the email copy of the Formal admission letter, that you will be required to & find details for paying the $250. When they confirm the $250 payment, the Hardcopy ie Paper copy of the Formal admission letter and Acceptance letter will now be sent to you. Am in the same shoe as you, just got of the waitlist and have received 2 emails of recommendations only. I had to send my email of acceptance no later than 30th April.

  22. @ Spinous, Congrats. I won't be able to answer your question as am yet to get my Offer of Admission from U of Saskatchewan since after the Recommendation email. I've made enquiries but was told in March that its due to unexpected workload which will be resolved in a week. I tried enquiring after 2weeks but have gotten no reply yet. Its almost a month + now and am yet to hear from them.
  23. I just got an admission offer from Simon Fraser University and will be applying for study permit as soon as I get the Hard copy of my admission letter and acceptance. Am expecting this soon. School starts in September. I checked the study visa application process in CIC website and found out that Original and a photocopy of Post Secondary transcripts is needed in the application package. From experience, the Universities I graduated from do not give Transcripts to students instead they mail it directly to the institution requesting for it. My question now is, how do I add my transcripts to my application if my schools will be mailing it separately. I need help from Nigerians who have successfully gone through this process and are in Canada now. Thanks for your help.

  25. I just received an email from SFU, an informal admission I guess cos it states that the DGS still has to issue a formal offer of admission. I have to accept by sending an email before April 30. I'll just send the email accepting right away.
