  1. Awesome! That's a lot of good information for me! =) I will definitely be looking around those areas and checking out those restaurants.
  2. Just recently got admitted into the MSW program at CSU, Northridge and I am very excited to be going there! I'm from Northern CA so So. California is really foreign to me since I have only been to landmark places there. LOL! I was wondering if anyone knows of any GREAT apartments to live at. Possibly more modern places would be nice because quality means a lot to me. I would love your recommendations and I do not mind commuting to the campus as long as it's within a 15-20 minute drive. I've read up on a few apartments and have found bad reviews on a lot of them, so I'd like to know your opinions! Also, if you all could recommend things to do, see, or visit in the area, that would be awesome too! The more knowledge about the city that I have, the easier this transition will be for me! THANKS EVERYONE!
  3. Why do you say that? They gave us until July. Is there any word that they've reached capacity?
  4. She said that they would be talking about it with the committee within the next week or two, so I'm assuming we should expect to hear back from them within that time. I chose the two year CYF program as my number 1, but I let them know that I wouldn't mind the 3-year if it came down to it. (I made it clear the the 2 year was my preference though, but I guess I'd settle for the 3 year if it came down to it.)
  5. I just had my interview and thought it went well, in my opinion. Like you said, it was pretty laid-back and more of a conversation than an interview. She picked at my brain a bit, but I'm hoping my answers were enough to be able to be granted admission to their program. I got scared too when she brought up all the "just in case" scenarios such as doing the 3-year program or the possibility of not getting in. But of course, they have to warn everyone about that, right? Good luck to all of us though and hopefully we'll be future classmates soon. =)
  6. Aw nice, at least you're done with it and can relax now. Mine is at 1:00pm so I'm preparing just a little bit. Sounds like you did well though!
  7. You got this! I heard they were very nice, so that should make the interview a lot easier. And having talked to them a few times on the phone, they really do sound nice. So be confident! This is your big chance to showcase yourself to them! =) Let me know how it goes, and if you can share your experience and maybe questions that they asked, that would be cool! I'll do the same after my interview.
  8. Mine is on Monday too! So good luck to the both of us. Are they going to tell us their username for Skype or something? LOL
  9. For those who've interviewed with CSUN, what're some good questions to ask them if they ask for questions? I've been trying to think of some, but can't really figure anything out for some reason. I know it'd be good to ask questions, rather than say you don't have any. Can anyone suggest anything? Just thought I'd ask.
  10. Came from a lady named Maria Dinis. I guess she's a professor and part of the graduate admissions dept.
  11. And for anyone waiting for a reply from Sac State, they started sending out letters. I received mine yesterday, but was not admitted into their program. Sucks because I thought I'd get into their program since I got my bachelor's from there. =( Good luck to the rest of you waiting on word at Sac State!
  12. Thanks Hillary, that does help a lot! =) And just to clarify, with you or anyone reading this. CSUN don't offer their courses on their campus, correct? It's only online or the three off-campus locations they have listed? Just want to make sure I'm reading that correctly. EDIT: Whoops, I guess I was just on a different page on their website. I see that they have an on-campus program too! LOL mybad!
  13. Got a call today from a representative at Cal State Northridge. They were able to set me up with an appointment for this Tuesday via Skype. (That's pretty awesome considering I live 7 hours away from the LA area.) Can anyone who has interviewed with CSUN give any tips for the interview, or perhaps let me know what kind of questions they asked you? Also, do they let you know if you get accepted if they like you after the interview? Any kind of help would be awesome! =)
  14. Did it actually say "waitlist" on your letter? I don't understand what the difference between "pending" and "waitlist" is if we're both waiting to get accepted into the program. LOL!
  15. Well... for all you guys who are pending, here's their reply. Nothing we probably didn't know already though: "July is the estimated date around which you will hear back. If the process speeds up then it's possible you may hear a little sooner but I would just count on it being July. The department has to see of those students that were granted admissions, the number of those that accepted and will attend in the Fall. Depending how many openings are still available, the applicants with "pending" status are then considered." I guess we can just hope that a whole bunch of people who were accepted to the CSULB MSW program don't accept admission and select a different school. The more people who do that, the better of a chance we got. Poop... I guess that just means we really gotta wait a few more months. =(
  16. I tried emailing the social work dept, but they haven't replied to me yet. I asked if there's a possibility we'll find out before July. I really don't wanna wait that long because I live 8 hours away and if I get in, I'm sure I'd need more than a month to find a place to live. =/
  17. Oh man...I submitted my application to CSULB probably a couple days before the deadline. And yeah, the anticipation really does suck!
  18. Seriously. I hate that they put me in a "pending" status. I mean, I guess it's better than getting rejected, but I just hope they're highly considering my application since they didn't reject me right away. That letter was such a tease, man. =/
  19. I don't have the best GPA in the world: 2.9 cumulative, but a 3.3 in my last 60 units. I felt very confident with my personal statement and I don't have any literal social work experience, although I have been part of a church youth retreat team for 12 years that mentors children/teens and do similar social work type things. I received a letter from CSULB the other day stating that they reviewed my application, but am put into a "pending" status. (Still very optimistic though.) I hate how I have to wait until the end of the application cycle for them to get to me. They said it'll be by July, but I wish I could know sooner since in Sacramento and would need to look for housing. Anybody else get a "pending" letter or have any experience with that in the past?? I'm really hoping they accept me!
  20. Just got a "pending" letter from CSULB. I'm really hoping to get into the school. Does anyone know if it's likely for me to get into the school since I didn't get rejected (nor accepted) right away?? Still crossing my fingers!!
  21. I turned in my app a couple of days prior to Jan. 15th and got a response last week saying I was not able to get in. I'm not too sure why, but I might send them an email to see how I could strengthen my application. I really wanted to go there, but now I'm hoping to get into CSULB's program. I know this is a thread for CSULB, but is it true that SDSU gives priority to local students before out of towners? I hope CSULB doesn't do that. =/
  22. Seriously!!! Man, I just got rejected from SDSU and CSULB is the only other school I really want to get in to! I want it so bad!!!
