  1. Hi Paige Elizabeth.... I'm sorry to hear about you GREs, but it sounds like you are a smart girl who has a lot of social work experience and the admissions really looks at that. I am currently in the MSW program at Cal State Northridge and I am loving the it! The schools comes from a strengths based perspective which basically means that we try to focus on and find any strength within our clients lives. There is not a set concentration that you have to choose, we learn about every population which is good since social work is so broad! Just a thought good luck.
  2. Checked my status today on SFSU website and was denied admissions! Good thing I'm already going to CSUN! They took wayyyyy to long to get back to students! Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to those who heard the good news!
  3. Ok thank you! & Congrats!
  4. Has anyone heard back about the Title IV-E stipend at SFSU that you could apply to at the same time the other application was due?
  5. Has anyone been accepted to the Orange County Academic Center for Social Work at USC? I was recently accepted to that program and was wondering if anyone else was or if anyone needed a roommate!
  6. Hello! I just got accepted into the Social Work program at Orange County Academic Center and was wondering if anyone else was accepted there or needs a roommate! Thanks
  7. I completely agree with you. Anywhere we choose to go we will be learning the basics and doing field work. Its just like i said, USC provides way more stipends and scholarships than CSUN. There is one stipend to apply to for csun and they give priority to people who are already working at agencies.
  8. But then again, I don't want to base my decision strictly on money. I want to look at the program and what kind of reputation the school has as well. It's just a tough decision.
  9. Ok well at least you know the reason now why they didnt respond to you! USC has so many more stipends and scholarships, and its a program that has been around for so long. CSUN has been around for 4 years, but i like it because you dont have to choose a concentration. Since im out of state it would be 30,000 a year so its still super expensive. I need to tell them today, ahh! Thanks for your input, i definitely consider the money part heavily.
  10. By the way, futurelcsw...did you finally get to set up an interview at CSUN?
  11. I just got a call from USC , i was finally taken off the waitlist...now i have to choose between USC and CSUN. I really love everything about the program at CSUN but USC is such a well known school. Not sure what to do...any suggestions?
  12. I finally got accepted into CSUN MSW today!!! After waiting five weeks since interview, finally heard the good news.
  13. You totally wont! Just word it nicely !
  14. They emailed me to set one up on Friday and I responded friday and they got back to me on Monday. They have forgotten to respond to one of my emails before, its easy to over look an email when they get hundreds a day. I would defintely respond back and ask if they recieved your times. They wont call you out of the blue. seriously though, just email them again with your times
  15. Thanks allyba! I am still waiting for CSUN, could have to wait until May to find out. At least you have been accepted into the school but i agree, if i dont get in, then i'll just work and gain more experience.
  16. I totally agree! I am 21 almost 22, and only have volunteer experience and like one six month job that sort of applies to social work. But we have that motivation to continue schooling and understand what its like and people who have been out of the education setting forget what thats like. So theres pros and cons to accepting both kinds of students, and I hopefully the admissions committee thinks that way too! Let me know how it goes ok?
  17. Then you should make sure to express that going into social work would give you the ability to gain more experience!! Are you in undergrad? I really want to go to CSUN as well. I am waitlisted at another place, and havent heard back from one, and denied acceptance to another all to go to CSUN, so i hope it works out. Maybe we will be classmates!
  18. Hi!! I was so super nervous for my interview, like I had no idea what they were going to ask, so I prepared for all the traditional questions you know. But when I got there, I was interviewed by Julie, which she was so great. It was more of a conversation where she just asked me what I would bring to the social work field and why I want to go to Northridge. Just do your research about the school. It was honestly the best interview I have ever been on, super laid back and she conversed just as much as i did. Don't stress about it, I regretted how much i stressed about it afterwards haha. Good luck though And I think they interview people that they really want, because I know they disregard the group of people who dont make 'the cut' and then interview the more serious candidates, otherwise they would be interviewing a lot of people. So you're good However, they may have been on the fence with me (i have a pretty low gpa), and It makes me nervous because i havent heard back at all from them, but they did say that I would hear back by may 10 , but most likely before.. so i still have hope.
  19. Has anyone interviewed at California State University Northridge and haven't heard back yet? I interviewed on March 16, the wait is killing me.
  20. Hey allyba, congrats on getting in to Northridge! That is my first choice. I interviewed two and a half weeks ago, and haven't heard back yet and it's driving me crazy. I originally had all of my app stuff in by the early admission date but transcripts were lost so now I am in regular admission. How long after your interview did you hear back? Also, were you early admission? Thanks!
  21. I was waitlisted at USC, I guess that's better than being rejected. Does anyone know the likelihood of getting in?
  22. It feels like I have been waiting forever to hear back from SFSU, thanks for letting me know that they will tell us soon. I hope the time goes by quick!!!
  23. I am still waiting to hear about admission to SFSU. Not sure how long we will have to keep waiting!
  24. @cmarin2 thank you for your input! Congrats on getting accepted
