  1. I almost took a VERY similar strategy (+ throw in some gender studies for the LOLs) so I believe you! Anyway, been rooting for you all along, my fellow interdisciplinarian.
  2. The age breakdown isn't sufficient to give much information here. It's also kind of early to be interpreting results (I'm 22-23, voted in first poll, and could still be accepted). Finally, survey respondents are self-selecting which, frankly, doesn't tell much. Bad methods, not much can be extrapolated.
  3. I don't have that (yet). Which either means nothing or that they just tossed my app out months ago.
  4. Yeah. I wouldn't commit myself prematurely even being 100% certain. I know my response emails have been downright cold compared to what I actually wanted to say (and I used the word "thrilled" on one occasion, so). Be genuine but not desperate and don't make any promises.
  5. Sorry, bfat. Still waiting on mine.
  6. Buffalo, the people of the scary changing website, need to not be sending rejections via postal service. Condolences dazed.
  7. Huh. Mine does NOT say that. Seriously, wtf Buffalo. Eta I'm thinking maybe someone else here knows more?
  8. I'm pretty disappointed to not even get a wait list but at least I'm that much closer to being done this year.
  9. They don't even sort of want me/us. It's fine, I didn't even sort of want them either.... (This is a lie.)
  10. Well, the Wisconsin admit is more likely but fingers crossed! I LOVE snow. Every time I have visited their status check site and the school was closed for a snow emergency, I fell just a little harder. I actually don't know if I could handle Nashville! Especially as I have been knitting obsessively all winter, I don't know how it would feel to be in Nashville with a new wool scarf...
  11. My down vote was totally accidental. Touch screens will be the death of me here.
  12. Yeah, everyone. Please, please do not rush decisions out of concerns for other people. That's foolish. Those of us on wait lists can handle it. If I have to make a snap decision on April 15, well, at least I have a decision.
  13. Thanks! I've developed a great deal of fondness for Madison since applying (they get SO MUCH SNOW) and it was the first school suggested to me by a letter writer and it is obviously a brilliant program. I'm honored to still be in the running.
  14. Thanks. It's tough because Rutgers was my only remaining hope of a straight acceptance (as well as my top choice) because now all of the schools I'm waiting on have already sent acceptances (as well as wait lists in the case of Berkeley). Best I can hope for now is another wait list or two. I do think you're right, though, in that my chances of making it off Wisconsin's list are very good (especially knowing from here where some of the Wisconsin acceptances also got in -- Wisconsin has some tough recruiting competition this year) and I would be so beyond thrilled to go there. Going to my favorite bar for my birthday so even though I think next week is going to bring more rejections, I'll be able to numb the pain with beer and spinach artichoke dip. It evens out.
  15. Dear "wat" Stanford acceptance, Thank you for making me laugh in the midst of my Rutgers misery. Congratulations!
  16. I guess better this weekend than next... (My birthday is next Saturday.) But, yeah. Whole weekend, ruined.
  17. You're absolutely underestimating the reputation of your school and how it will look in the eyes of ad comms. Further, education prestige does matter -- I think my school has helped to compensate for my relatively-bare Lit background -- but it is not everything. It's possible to come from Yale and strike out and possible to come from Unknown University and get in. I do think your bigger concern is your background (speaking, again, as someone who also has a thin history in the discipline). So if you're getting a handle on that, and it sounds like you are, no one is going to be looking at your school's lousy football team. Also, I want to note that I don't think "defending" oneself as a non-major is necessarily the greatest strategy. I let a couple of my letter writers handle the issue of speaking to my interdisciplinary training and spent my SOP demonstrating my abilities/knowledge not my weaknesses. Totally early for this advice, I know.
  18. Well, looks like I'm finally all out.
  19. Pretty sure my wait lists will be my only option. Feeling better about that than I had been previously, though. I don't think the Wisconsin wait list is as bleak as I had been saying.
  20. Wow. I'm glad you called and found out! I think they've had about five different response periods this year. It's kind of way too many.
  21. Wait. Did you not get the email then? Wisconsin is all sorts of confusing this year. I'm also genuinely shocked to hear anything even remotely positive as my SOP for them was such a hack job. Rereading it now, it was pretty clearly a condensed version of something that made more sense. I guess they got the gist.
  22. Ugh. They're my only remaining glimmer of hope of getting in this year. The last week of not hearing from them has been excruciating. I'm hoping the "by Monday" means they're done sooner than anticipated and that today's the day.
