My heart skipped a beat when I saw this in my inbox. It ended up just being a form letter letting me know that decisions would be forthcoming, by mail...sometime. Everything is the worst.

Did anyone else slip in a few dirty words into theirs, just to make sure the admissions committee was actually reading, or...?

The one who endures to the end will be saved.

Also, if notifications haven't gone out yet, you might weigh the option of sending your POI(s) your writing sample directly, despite it being late in the game. Again, an outsider's perspective. Take with a half-pound of salt.

I think you're right on. Even though I didn't apply to UVa, I had a similar rant all typed up about an hour ago, Of course, it would've been an outsider's perspective, but commiseration's worth something, I hope. To be perfectly honest and tactless, to not require (but secretly want) a writing sample seems bass-ackwards.

This is how I feel every time I don't get a results phone call or email. Which is to say, I feel this way always at this juncture.

Got an email last week from Denver University-Iliff. Today's the day the faculty begins reviewing application files. It's weird knowing this, a little bit hopeful, and a lotta bit uncomfortable. :sigh:

I've currently got a letter of recommendation, meant for Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, floating around somewhere in Gaithersburg, MD. Thankfully, my file is already complete and the letter is only additional. Still, though. I mailed that thing from TN and it went to Chicago, a suburb of Chicago, Omaha, back to the suburb, back to Omaha, and now Gaithersburg. #THANKSOBAMA

What does "generic email" mean?

We use New Testament Story by Barr. During my year, though, the prof switched to LTJ's Writings of the New Testament. I prefer Barr's to LTJ's.
