2013-2014 M.A./M.T.S/M.Div Application chitchat

So, barring an unexpected acceptance from Fordham, it looks like I'll be doing my MA Theo at Seton Hall. It feels good to have that down. -
I'm almost certainly going to be attending an unfunded program at Seton Hall. Tuition is actually fairly inexpensive, but it's still more than I can afford and still graduate in any reasonable amount of time. Does anybody have any ideas on getting this paid for besides student loans? It's a 36 credit program that's about $600 or so a credit at half-rate tuition, which I'll be receiving.

Cardinal Busey had a good run. Don't feel bad. It's hard to get 77 votes.
-
Black smoke. I'm assuming the Busey candidacy has fallen through.

In order of likelihood: 1) Ravasi 2) Ouellet 3) Schoenborn 4) Scherer 5) O'Malley
-
I'll be honest. I think O'Malley has a good shot at winning because, in my opinion, he possesses the essential qualities needed, and any conclave seriously considering the Church would have to give him a real solid look. That said, there are *other* cardinals with equal virtues who would do very well in the position, and while I believe O'Malley would be excellent, I can't say he's the only one who would be. My great hope is that it's not an Italian.

I think Ravasi or Ouellet is most likely. My heart belongs to Sean O'Malley.

Does anybody have any idea what the hell is going on with Fordham? -

I did my getting upset last week. And I already have an acceptance in the bag, so no matter what, I'm 1) staying in New York and 2) going to graduate school this fall. Now I just need to hear from Fordham so I can start figuring out financing. Regardless of whether they accept or reject me, everything's gonna be gravy at this point. I had really hung my hat too strongly on BC, and now that I've moved on, or am moving on, it's just gonna be a matter of finalizing plans. -

I was supposed to hear from BC yesterday, but I'm assuming that two feet of snow on the ground meant the offices were closed. -

Guess I find out tomorrow. -
Is checking the website going to tell me anything?

Neither Fordham nor BC's app pages tell you anything besides whether you've actually finished applying. -

I think this is just their standard operating procedure. Everybody seems to have the same tale. -

I'm still waiting on Fordham, too. If I may ask, have they been at all communicative regarding the process? I haven't heard a word from them since I got my transcripts in months ago. -
I'm trying to figure out how to stagger my language courses so I can max it out at minimum cost. At minimum I need German, because my fiancee and I have plans to relocate there and it's a pretty useful language in theology, but I'd also like to get French (because I reaalllly want to study Congar and de Lubac) and I'd really like to get my Italian back up to snuff after four years of disuse. Any ideas? I figure it'd probably be best to skip French entirely and focus on German and Italian.

I got off the phone with the admissions department at BC, and acceptances are being sent alphabetically and they're still going out. Notifications will come regardless of acceptance or rejection, so the fact that I haven't gotten anything means nothing except that, with a last name starting with V, am at the back of the alphabet. As the saying goes, Poland is not yet lost. -

Do emails usually go out at the end of the day, and I'm just freaking myself out by checking my mail every thirty seconds for no reason? -

I'm just getting worried because all the PhD acceptances seem to have gone out on the same day, and I'm not sure why MTS would be any different. -
