Have you read this? http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/scores/how/

I believe you can use the state standard. E.g.,Texas mileage reimbursement rate is listed here: https://fmx.cpa.state.tx.us/fm/travel/milerate/index.php Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

I also took my basics at a community college (I was an intl student back then). I listed this school and uploaded its transcript for all my apps, even though my 4-yr university also listed them under "Transfer credits". I copied this from an actual application that I had to fill in: "Please list ALL post-secondary colleges or universities you have previously attended or are presently attending, including for extension, correspondence, and distance learning credit, starting with the most recent. Failure to list all institutions will be considered an intentional omission and may lead to forced withdrawal." Applied to: UT, WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

Honestly, its out of our hands now. No one on here can really rate your chance of being admitted. How are your LoRs? I would say at this time early admits already receive their offers. But most schools are still working on it. Check the result search often, and good luck. Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

Hey guys, just wanna let you know that I've heard from all the schools I've applied to. I feel relieved Good luck to those who are still waiting to hear the good news! Fellow theoretical chemistry applicants, pls PM me! Lets make friends! And thanks to all who answered on the chemistry thread! Applied to: UT, WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

Recommendation from Dept., does that mean I am in?
Cookie replied to vision15's topic in Waiting it Out
"The Department of abc at xyz has recommended you for admission into the PhD program. While the graduate school has the final say in admissions, it generally follows the advice of the Department." This is part of an email I got from a PoI 4 days before an official email. Congrats and good luck with your endeavours -
I got accepted to several schools all with recruiting/first year excellence fellowships. They are small amounts, but do they mean anything significant? Would I still possibly be considered for higher fellowships or that is it? Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

In my lab, grad students work 30+ hours not including TA work. RAs work at least 10 hours a day. My direct supervisor, a last year grad student, tends to work 12 hours a day (9 to 9). He got a lot of papers published. Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

Hi chemleg, I got an official acceptance via email on the 14th. Visiting weekends are on March 1-2 and 29-30. My application status hasnt been updated yet (same to the other 2 acceptances I got). I'd say that theyd inform by mail/email then updating on their website later.

Congrats, guys! Amazing schools and awesome fellowships! Have anyone heard from WashU?? Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

They would expect it. Some schools specify this on applications FAQs. You can always call/email to ask first. (Take my words with a grain of salt, my prof is in the adcom of my school)
-
Generally, late rec letters dont hurt you much unless the school does rolling admissions. I heard (from how my school's adcom works) that adcoms start review the submitted applications with what they received first, then with updated materials (late rec letters, latest transcripts etc...) That person stated that they applied for Spring 2013 (Rice accepts PhD applications for both Spring and Fall). I would guess that they offer more spots for the Fall. I have no idea about the numbers though. Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame. UWashington.

Sure it does for now I try to focus on planning my visits. Quoting my mentor: "one is most likely to succeed at a place when they are happiest" And thank you!!!! Applied to: UT, Rice, UPenn, Carnegie, UCSD. WashU. Notre Dame.

Hi @paperandstaples, if it were my top choice, i'd call or email them that if I'm very interested and if offered, I would definitely take it. Unless it is a very small program, it is likely that some of the accepted would decline the offer. The rest is just a waiting game. Good luck!
