  1. I've already made a spreadsheet listing all the crap I need to take care of between now and August-September. Started piling up clothes items to donate and furniture to sell on craigslist. Dang, Boulder must really want to impress you! I'd hear this professor out for sure. Why are you currently set on Cornell?
  2. Doubt we'll get any news on a weekend. Just look forward to next week!
  3. Just did my daily afternoon application portal check (no news, of course!). I probably won't remember to check again this evening--once it's past 5pm on a Friday, it's time to unwind with good beer and a video game.
  4. Hahaha, I appreciate the positive vibes @MrsKozee!! This whole process has taught how to be very, very, veeery patient.
  5. Nope! It's been a quiet two weeks for my email inbox, and the application portal has no change. Hell, it hasn't even changed for my MPP admission!
  6. Agh, I've already used all my positive rep points for today! This was hilarious!
  7. Happy Friday, everyone! May we have some luck receiving any form of admission news today. I shouldn't be complaining since I already have some admits, but my inbox has been so damn quiet the last two weeks. At least March is almost here; I know I'll be getting more decisions back then.
  8. At this point, I'm (failing to) wait patiently for news from LBJ and Harris, since I've already heard back from the social work programs at those universities. I haven't received any news from Michigan on either application, so that would be nice too. March 1 through 12 should be a busy time for my email inbox.
  9. I don't see why it WOULDN'T be possible to get into those programs. None of us applicants can predict how admissions' committees make their decisions, and there are a multitude of factors that go into selecting candidates. It's understandable to be caught off guard by that news, but do not lose hope yet.
  10. Personally, I didn't mentally catalog any red flags as I was speaking with the admissions staff, faculty or current students. There seem to be enough work study opportunities available for first-years. The class I sat in on was very engaging; it was a clinical course, and even though I plan to study social administration I enjoyed the lecture and class discussion. After the official visit, I walked around the campus through the snow! I met with some staff at the university's Center for Identity + Inclusion and had a refreshing conversation about the university climate in all. The campus looks quite vast and very Gothic.
  11. Thanks! I was actually in kind of a panic before they extended their deadline over that weekend, because one of my LOR writers wasn't getting any of the emails from the application portal to submit her letter. We had to contact admissions to get it manually uploaded onto my application. I was notified via email that my application status had changed. A mail notice arrived about a week later.
  12. I submitted my application January 15...and was accepted two weeks later. Such a quick turn-around, and I really didn't expect it. Sorry if that only makes you more nervous. I went to the SSA campus visit this Monday, and I had a great experience with both the school and the university as a whole. It was my first time being in Chicago so I also chowed down on some deep dish pizza.
  13. Congrats, y'all! Submitting your applications definitely has its perks. I don't know why I bother checking Wolverine Access every day when I didn't submit until January 10!
  14. Congrats! Make all the faces you want!
  15. Maybe I should be more creative when submitting results...
  16. Email the admissions director or program coordinator at UC to request an extension of the deadline to accept or decline the offer. Explain that you are thankful for the admittance, but you are awaiting admission notifications from other programs. They may grant you the extension, or they may not. Word your inquiry politely.
  17. That's great! My cousin recently joined the Navy and she's taken up knitting to pass the time. She's made so many beanies and scarfs for family and they're all so dang cute. I'd love to get into it as well.
  18. Yes, I met with Lance in October 2015 on a campus visit, and he told me then that he was retiring. I know the wait really, really sucks, but there is still plenty of time to receive some news.
  19. I don't plan on calling their office. It seems apparent that they're slowly notifying applicants and I don't think a phone call will speed up their internal process at all. They're obviously busy dealing with all of this.
  20. That sounds like an awesome program to me! Here's hoping for some geeky good news. Welcome! Please enjoy some whine and wine while you wait.
  21. I'll continue to play video games. I don't want to think about how many hours I've put into The Sims franchise after all these years! I also need to acquire a piano again; I was professionally trained for 10 years but haven't been able to move a full-sized keyboard with me over the past couple moves. Also, I want to learn how to knit.
  22. Nada. I had a nice streak of acceptances and now my inbox has gone totally quiet for grad school emails. Staying patient!
  23. I want to give you positive rep for your sense of humor, not for the news. So sorry about those notices you've received.
  24. Good call, it does read like satire upon second glance. Between this, the Chicago philosophy results and the Trump/student visa comment, I'm not used to the results search being so hostile!
  25. Wow to both of those. I guess I can understand their frustrations a bit more since it's a doctorate program but still, what a harsh tone to take.
