I’ve read about a girl, who was interviewed last week, so maybe they aren’t even done with it yet

I know I have the background/career goals they are looking for with solid references too. I even attended the info sessions to show my seriousness in pursuing this program. My undergrad GPA is not okay, but not great, but I have a 4.0 in my current Graduate program, so maybe that will cover me...?

sj2398 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Hi everyone, I also applied to the REECA program - I interviewed in January and am waiting to hear back! I also got accepted to Columbia’s Russian Studies MA program last week, but there was no mention of financial aid/funding in the acceptance letter (from GSAS, not the program). Does anyone know if they send out info later? Good luck all! Edited February 28, 2022 by sj2398

So nervous:( checking application portal many times a day for the last 3 weeks If someone has already received an admission decision from Harvard, sooo most likely I just have to wait for a rejection ?
Lerryk6 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Hi everyone! Update from program coordinator who answered me yesterday: Dear Leri (if I may), Thanks for your continued patience. My understanding is that decisions will be posted to the online application platform in the next week or so. Best, Donna — since I didn’t get invitation to interview, there is 99% chance I got rejected right away. Super strange though.. GPA 3.95, 4+ Professional experience, Russian speaker and hold an offer from Columbia with 70% scholarship. Wonder what are they looking for in candidates.. Good luck to everyone! coxlse, sj2398 and Katya08 3

Thank you for sharing and updating us, Leri. I am actually disappointed in this whole process. Assuming one cannot be admitted without an interview, people who weren't interviewed should have been informed over a month ago that they would not be accepted. Also, based on others who interviewed for a variety of graduate programs, decisions are released after interviews in a timely manner (1-3 weeks maximum). Most people who were interviewed have been waiting over 5 weeks now...We will also not have a status update for likely another week? We do know from others that those who have been accepted have gotten informal emails from the director already anyway. I would think that it would be professional, and kind, to contact those you don't plan to admit and let them grieve and move on with the rest of their lives. I know a lot of people have been refreshing their portals/gradcafe endlessly since February 20th or earlier. While it isn't healthy, and I've given up on it entirely once I realized letters have gone out, that's the anxiety we're forced to live with. If it weren't for the online space and ability to share information with relative strangers, we would all still be completely clueless about admissions so long after decisions have actually been made. Anyone else extremely disheartened by this? sj2398 1

I honestly don't know what they're looking for.. I had a strong GPA, pretty good GRE, solid recs, some work experience. Guess it wasn't meant to be. Happy that I have offers from other strong programs. On another note, has anyone heard back from Yale European and Russian Studies yet? Edited March 4, 2022 by sj2398

Dequine09 Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 @sj2398 I think Columbia's funding decisions should be out next week? They said they provide 50% of tuition for many of their students and some are fully funded too! I don't think anyone else has received any other information regarding funding, so I'm really hoping they pull through with some snappy (and generous) decisions soon. I noticed how things are so much later this year than last for all schools. Good to finally join the community!

It's kind of hard to make a decision without the full picture on funding, especially since their deadline to respond is before April 15. Maybe we'll hear about an online info session / open house soon as well?
Dav13 Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Hi all! Yale decisions are out. Did anyone have funding mentioned in their letter? Mine simply says the cost of tuition lol.

I thought that was pretty wild considering the FAQ on the program's site says that applicants are usually considered for partial tuition. I would email the program registrar to see about funding opportunities.
Kalatozov Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 (edited) Hi everyone! I could not find any related threads from this year so I’m just writing here. Did you apply to these programs at Harvard (REECA), Yale (European and Russian Studies), Columbia (MARS-REERS), Georgetown (MAERES), and maybe elsewhere? Did anyone get notifications about interviews? Edited January 26, 2023 by Kalatozov
ebd55 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Hey! I had an interview for REECA. how about you?
