Congratulations!

Would you mind sharing (approximately) when you applied? I also have a GPA that is above the 3.4 threshold (and I applied before the deadline), but I have not heard a decision yet.

I submitted a completed application on 12/29, so it was quick since the office was closed until Jan 2. If you submitted yours well before mine I would probably call.

Hey all! I got my acceptance January 4th, waiting to hear from Columbia but I'm not tooooo hopeful about funding, so I'm deep down expecting to end up with Pitt (not that that's a bad thing!). I toured and I looooooved the city so I'm def not disappointed. I'm lowkey worried about how to find a roommate if I end up going to Pitt (I have lots of friends in the City so I'm not worried about finding a roommate for Columbia). I know it's kind of far and a weird thing to be nervous about hahah

Columbia should be sending out letters soon! I don't know how soon they send out scholarship information and whatnot. Wherever I go, the whole roommate thing should be interesting lol

Congratulations!!! That gives me hope that I might see a letter in the coming week although my online accounts still say nothing.

1. How soon before 12/31 did you apply?

2. Interesting that you cannot find your acceptance online.  I'm finding the online systems a bit confusing.  According to my "ApplyYourself" page (i.e., the page used to create and submit my application), my application was submitted on 12/31 and was "completed" days earlier.  It also lists all of my transcripts and letters as being received.  But then according to my UPitt "applicant account" (i.e., the account login I received a few days after submitting my application), my application is "incomplete."  I am hoping the second one is a mistake, because I definitely submitted all relevant material (letters, transcripts, everything) well before the 12/31 deadline.

I applied I think on December 21st, so not too much before the 12/31 deadline!

I double checked my ApplyYourself portal and it still only says submitted haha, no idea why!

I am right there with you! Completed app on 12/31. Checking the website, email, and my mailbox like there is no tomorrow

Hello! I’m honestly a bit relieved that I’m not alone in this. Next week is week 6 so I’m thinking we’ll finally hear by then. Fingers crossed.

Woah, so I got in! Phew. Thanks for listening to me gripe, everyone. :P I somehow had missed the online notification from a few days ago. Momo493, I am sure you will hear in the next few days! And if you haven’t done so, you could always call the school to check in. They are really nice.

Question for others who have been admitted: how do you know that merit aid decisions will be mailed this month? Was that something explained in the physical snail mail letter? Because my short online decision letter in the portal says nothing at all about a forthcoming scholarship letter.

Congrats!!!!!

I guess one “benefit” to hearing this late is that now we don’t have a very long wait before merit scholarship letters are sent.  Depending on the award amount, there is a very good chance I’ll end up at Pittsburgh. Seems like an excellent program in a fantastic city.

That's how I am looking at it haha

I'm actually from Pittsburgh, and went there for undergrad - So I can definitely vouch for the city/school! You'll feel at home!

Did you get your BSW from there or did you major in something different? I'm looking into going (it's in my top three), however, I don't want to live in another small/boring city. What do most people do there for entertainment?

For those who receive scholarship offers this week, please post your stats if you feel comfortable doing so! According to a friend, the priority admit scholarship amounts are based mostly on GPA, with the higher amounts given to those closer to 4.0. I have no proof of this, but anecdotal evidence from previous years’ threads seems to confirm it.

Has anyone received scholarship information yet?

According to this thread from 2016, the scholarship award letters went out the Friday before Presidents' Day, and most seemed to receive their letters by the following Saturday.  If this year is the same, then decisions have been made and our letters are in the mail, which means some could get their letters as soon as tomorrow or Wednesday.  I'm on the West Coast so I'm not expecting to hear anything before the weekend.  Fingers crossed for everyone!

I earned my BS in Psychology there. As far as the city goes, it depends on what cities you are used to. Pittsburgh is a good mix of city/neighborhood. It isn't overwhelming, and if you seek out your interests, you can make it the experience you want it to be. Cost of living is low compared to other cities. It's hard to speak to what is there for entertainment because I am so used to how the city operates, so it may be exciting for some, and laid back for others. Hope that makes sense!
