She started working for ECI (Early childhood intervention) I'm not sure if they have this in NY but her pre reqs helped her get a good paying job as a Specialized Skills Trainer(SST). She works with kids under the age of 3 and their families. She is still trying to get into graduate school but she has also been able to support her family and still work with kids.

Hope it helps. I know I'd be doing the same thing if I didn't have a job with a school district.  I'm on my 3rd cycle of applications with only rejections and wait lists to show for it. :/
