Thanks for the update Out of curiousity, what were your stats and intended subfield? Nevermind, saw the separate thread on stats Edited March 6, 2010 by pea-jay
hopeful grad Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 This is really stressful - I haven't heard anything. I wonder if the first round of people that were accepted all received the 75% tuition and if they are working backwards from there? I've seen that in previous years admits were sent in March with funding decisions in April. wondering if there is still hope for those of us who need lots of $$$
moahb Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I received my email notification on Friday as to being accepted which was exciting, as well as scholarship funding. The amount was rather low I feel (about 30% of tuition). Apparently the Goldberg Fellowship is set to notify semi-finalists either this week or next of their status. I was also accepted to USC with about 60% tuition funding. I'd really love to go to Wagner, but I don't know if the funds are going to make sense. Did anyone hear anything about assistantships? Any ideas of how to get Wagner to match what USC gave me? Is it okay to ask if they might be willing to do that? I'm planning to attend the visiting day on the 9th of April.
hopeful grad Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Moahb - when did you apply? Is it first in, first out? Also what do you mean by semi-finalist for Goldberg? I didn't know there were several levels. With the negotiations, I have no idea if anyone has been successful but I doubt it will hurt to ask.
moahb Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Hopeful - I submitted my application at the end of November. I don't know how they do the notifications. I was surprised too by the mention of semi-finalist, I hadn't seen anything to that effect before. Will we hear about finalists before we have to make a decision? I'm frustrated because I don't think NYU is a very realistic option at the moment, urgh.
chetpdes Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) I'm in! Health Policy and Management (HPAM), Part-Time, Fall 2010. Haven't really decided on a specialization yet - applied as Management, now leaning towards Policy. No scholarship, as I receive tuition remission benefits from my employer for going part-time. Hope you all will be joining me at Wagner this Fall - best of luck! See you at the New Student Retreat. First post - please go easy! Edited March 9, 2010 by chetpdes
pea-jay Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Got my acceptance letter this afternoon, but with no scholarship. From the sound of the letter, non-scholarship financial aid opportunities are still forthcoming.
hopeful grad Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I got accepted yesterday and was very disappointed about not receiving scholarship funding. I think they really take into account your specialization when applying for admission even though this doesn't need to be declared right away. I'm feeling a little confused now - do I want to take on that much debt and graduate in what could still be a difficult job market? I probably won't make too much more than I do now at least right away. Overall, it's difficult not feeling wanted by the program and NYC is expensive. Anyone else feeling a bit down about this?

I got an acceptance letter too but no scholarship. How do they decide who gets a scholarship and who doesn't , is it based on the quality of the application or am I out of the running anyway because I am an international student? Also they said I have to fulfil the Professional Experience Requirement but I have been working in the British civil service for five years? Can anyone explain this for me?

ginger1 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Is everyone getting physical acceptance letters or emails?? Thanks I got an email but as I am based in London, a physical letter might be somewhere over the Atlantic ...

HOUBMA Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Ugh... This feels like a high school party where everyone gets invited except for you. I still haven't heard anything yet. Oh well...
Ashlee Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I'm still waiting too. You're not alone, we're just at a lame party instead lol.
natalou Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Still waiting here, too. Notices seem to have been quite spread out this year, though. People have reported receiving the notice at all hours of the day. Sometimes I try to convince myself that they simply alphabetize these things because my last name is toward the end of the alphabet.
Ashlee Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 hmm that tactic doesn't work for me, with a 'B' surname. And I had my app in by Dec 10, so it doesn't seem to be first in first served either. Will just have to wait it out
Ashlee Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Has anyone been in contact with the school? Any idea when all decisions will have been released by? So tired of waiting. So far, so much waiting, so little satisfaction.
ferro Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Hey ginger1, the finalists to the Reynolds scholarships have already been contacted. They sent the email on March 9th as they promised. I was lucky enough to be selected among them. They said that 30 finalistes were selected for the 10 spots, the final panel is on april 7th.

I also got my notice on the 9th and I was not selected, so they are sending to everyone. Ferro, a huge CONGRATULATIONS!!! Reynolds (beyond the money) is a great opportunity. I wish you the best of luck at the selection panel. broadinterests
ginger1 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 That's strange as I have not heard anything yet (positive or negative) but doesn't bode well... Congrats Ferro and good luck
