I have declined all but Stony Brook, but even after others have declined Tufts and WashU in St. Louis, no word from the adcomms. I will keep holding on until the last minute, but happy to be at Stony Brook if that's the case.

foppery Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Just accepted an early modern spot at Princeton. (I know the "already attending" bit is confusing--Princeton accepted me last year, I went somewhere else and decided to reapply to Princeton, and they let me in again. Weirdness.)

Oh, I should mention that I didn't have anywhere to decline, because I applied only to Princeton this year. Long story.

downtownchick Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Declined U Conn unfunded MA (Comp Lit) today. It's a decline although I don't see it's really a spot per se. Good luck everybody.
Joe Christmas Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Today I declined funded spots at Georgia, South Carolina, and Louisiana State. I have an MA, so these were all for a PhD. Good luck everybody!
meowmeow Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I declined funded spots at Virginia Tech and Miami University. I saw someone was wait-listed for a GTA, which I had, so I hope you get it!
waitingforfall Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I've been accepted off the waitlist at Stony Brook and am accepting!! So much happy dancing...

overeasy Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I accepted at Miami University yesterday! I declined Bowling Green, University of Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Louisville (all with full funding). Also removed my name from the waitlist at Ohio State Hope this helps some other PhD rhetoric and composition people! Good luck!

ratiocinator Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I accepted at Duke! I also turned down offers from Virginia (President's Fellowship), NYU, and Hopkins. I know that there are several people waiting anxiously on the first two, so hopefully the good news keeps on coming!

I know that there are several people waiting anxiously on the first two, so hopefully the good news keeps on coming! YAY! Congrats! Duke's a fantastic program (though I'm glad to see that NYU made you an offer as well). You were innudated with good options...but I'm not surprised that Duke rose to the top on your list.

I would hardly call myself inundated (you, on the other hand, can certainly claim that honor), but it was definitely a tough call. NYU was both very tempting and very persistent, but I think it worked out for the best—and I'm so glad that you, too, got what you wanted this cycle!
jb3ka Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Just turned down an offer at UC Irvine's English program. Hope this helps someone out--it's a great place!
artist_lily Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Or Penn State? I have my fingers (and toes) crossed so tightly over here, it's starting to hurt...!!

Pamphilia Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Or Penn State? I have my fingers (and toes) crossed so tightly over here, it's starting to hurt...!! I--somewhat sadly, it's an awesome program--declined Penn State a few weeks ago.
Christian O. Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I turned down a fully funded spot/TAship at Lehigh a few days ago.
