Hey all,

Thought it would be nice to have a thread for comp bio interviews/admissions apart from the general bio thread.

Programs I’m waiting to hear from:

Harvard SysBio

Princeton QCB

Tri-I CBM

CPCB (won’t be announced till January, I did an NSF fellowship at Pitt this summer so I have the inside scoop on this one)

Caltech SysBio

UCSD BISB

Baylor QCB

Let’s keep each other updated, and good luck to y’all!

Update: Baylor QCB interview 1/30-2/1

Tri-I CBM interview 2/10-2/12

No, I don’t know; I just got my invite this morning.

I got mine this afternoon.

Welp, I am going to assume that is a rejection for me. I emailed the coordinator so let's see if they sent all the invites at once.

Thanks for starting this! I'm a Canadian currently completing an MSc in Bioinformatics at a Canadian institution. As an international student, I may have aimed too high this application cycle, but I'm hoping something pans out! Congratulations to everyone who got an interview invite, and see you soon if those are at Weill Cornell or NYU!

No News:

Harvard | Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics

Columbia | Systems Biology, Biomedical Informatics

--- For the above two, does anyone have information about ongoing invitations? I've seen some go out already, but haven't received a rejection email yet. My fingers are crossed so hard ? ---

Rockefeller | Biosciences

Interviews:

Weill Cornell | Tri-institutional Computational Biology and Medicine | 2/10 - 2/12

NYU | GSAS Biology | 2/28 - 3/1 or 3/7 - 3/8

Rejected:

UCSF | Integrated Program in Quantitative Biology

Icahn School at Mount Sinai | Biomedical Sciences

Someone in results posted about Columbia BI and Harvard BIG already. I've emailed them but have yet to hear back. I'm an international student too so hopefully they aren't done with us yet :)

Also joining in! I'm also an international student with U.S master degree. Also wondering if I'm aiming too high as an international ?

Good luck everyone for their interviews!

Thank you! I think I will still be going to the Tri-I interview; I’m still trying to determine my best fit.

Reject: UW Genome Sciences, WashU CSBi and Cornell Comp Biol (I know they are really competitive... But also a bit upset when receiving the rejection)

Interview: Georgia Tech QBioS

Could you link to the post where people posted about Columbia BI and Harvard BIG? Also waiting on those two.

I see someone posted in results about hearing from Princeton QCB - has anyone else? And if you heard, what time did you hear/ did it seem like a mass email? Thanks!

I got an email from Princeton this afternoon for interview invitation. Interviews will be held on Friday, February 8th, with arrival on Thursday the 7th and departure on the 9th.

It's probably difficult for you to tell, but did you get the sense that your invite was a mass email, or alternatively that they were still working their way down the list? Based on the results page, it seems like relatively few people have heard back so far. Is your name near the beginning of the alphabet?

I emailed the program administrator to ask if invites are still going out, will post response when I get it...
