Hey all,

I thought I would create a group for those applying/interviewing for any Masters program in Psychology. Feel free to talk about the schools you are applying to and any interview questions. I know alot of the interview advice given majorly talks about PhD but feel free to share tips or questions.

Thanks for starting this thread! I didn't get in to a PhD this year and a finding research position just isn't possible in my area (I tried before I accepted my current clinical position) so I applied to Master's programs as a plan B option. If anyone has any information on Sam Houston State or University of Houston- Clear Lake's programs I would appreciate it!

@philopsych Are you geographically limited or looking for any type of program in particular? If not then this is a blog I've seen floating around that lists programs that typically give funding to masters-level students. I don't know about deadlines though. https://clinicalpsychphd.wordpress.com/2014/04/30/funded-psychology-masters-programs/

Applied to a handful of PhD programs and got a lot or rejections but was offered a spot in a Master's program. This wasn't my original intention, but now I am trying to decide if I would be better off in this program (which geographically and in general opens a lot of doors compared to my current undergrad univ.) or if I should hold off and try to get a Lab manager position instead.

If the Master's program is fully funded then I'd for sure roll with that. If it's not fully funded, then trying to get a job as a research assistant in addition to your Master's program would be ideal (this is what I did).

Hi,

the interview dates for university of Houston-clear lake are 3/6, 3/7, 3/21 and 3/22. I was emailed about interview dates in the middle of February.

I applied to both PhD and Master's programs but since I did get into my first choice PhD, I am going with the Masters option. I got an interview with Western Carolina University and Augusta University which both offer funding. If anyone has any information on both programs, I would love your input.

Yes, I was emailed around then too. I am attending the 3/21 interview slot.

Hi there!

Has anyone done an interview for their perspective programs yet? I have a phone interview with Augusta University April 4th and was wondering how others phone interviews went.

I did an in-person interview this past Thursday at UHCL and would be willing to share my experience! They asked me a few questions about my CV and my previous experiences, why I was interested in their program, my goals, etc. It was very short! I was done with the entire process in two and a half hours including waiting time.

Okay solid that's not too bad, now did you initially submit your CV or did they just ask about it?

I submitted it with my application and each of them had a copy of it in front of them

I hate to double post; but, as I mentioned in the other thread, this is desperation time. Does anyone think there's at least a possibility of them declining William & Mary or Wake Forest?
