  1. Here's someone that may be a good fit! https://case.fiu.edu/about/directory/profiles/griffith-shayl.html
  2. If you'd like to do something, a handwritten thank you note would be nice. But of course not necessary
  3. Have a response ready in case you get asked about what thesis/dissertation idea you might like to pursue. Did not find the question appropriate/fair but I did get it so would recommend to prepare for it just in case. Also, be sure to let yourself behave naturally, without being a super professional robot who doesn't know how to be casual. A big thing PIs and current grad students consider is personal fit with them, so although it may sound cliche - be yourself (well, the most social version of yourself).
  4. I agree - I had to email my current PI 3 times before I got a response as to whether or not they are taking a student. Glad I kept trying. I would either email again or email a grad admin person or even one of their current students.
  5. Anyone still waiting and hoping to get off the waitlist for their top choice? Very nerve-wrecking since we're just shy of 1 week away from the deadline. Best of luck to everyone!
  6. How do you respond to a POI that is putting a bit of pressure for you to make a decision, but you're still waiting to hear back from your top choice (on the waitlist)? Any advice would be appreciated!
  7. I'm in the exact same position. It is very difficult waiting to hear back from a program when it's so unpredictable whether you will be offered a spot or not..especially when you have another great offer that is waiting for you to respond. PM me if you want to talk!
  8. I'm in a similar situation and I'm going to reach out and ask for an update/clarification this week. I think it's the best way to go because I need to know so I can figure out my future!
  9. I did that this round and didn't have any problems - they were in different departments. I would go for it.
  10. How are you guys dealing with not getting into your top choice or choices? It definitely sucks - especially when it's a program you really liked.
  11. Is anyone else getting really impatient waiting to hear back from schools?? It's all I can think I about and I keep checking my email every 3 seconds hoping that I'll receive any news, especially since I expected to hear back this week. It feels like schools are taking extra long to send anything out post-interviews!
