esquid
I know it's super early but I figured we could use a thread like those from previous years to discuss applications, admissions (eventually), and anything else while we're waiting to hear results! I'm applying to the Intermediate/Senior stream with teachables in Social Sciences and Geography. I'm in my fourth year studying psychology at McGill, my GPA's not great (3.29 last year, 3.22 overall), which is the main thing I'm concerned about with regards to my application. I have 1800+ hours of teaching and related experience, including working full time over the past three summers running a math and science tutoring/exam prep program for grade 10 and 11 students in two Cree communities in Northern Quebec, and teaching summer school courses in the same communities during the past two summers. I've also done both volunteer and paid one-on-one tutoring, worked at a summer math camp, and facilitated workshops in high schools on a variety of topics (consent/sexual assault, mental health, etc.). The MT is the only program I've applied to, so I'm pretty nervous!
Datawraith
Hi, I applied last year but didn't get in, so I'm trying again this year with some lessons learned. I'm applying for I/S Math and Physics after studying mechanical engineering at uWaterloo. My GPA also wasn't great (82% average in my final year whatever that translates to in GPA), but I'm hoping my teaching experience makes up for it seeing that UofT doesn't take the program into account when looking at GPAs for whatever reason. I've got over 3000 hours of teaching and related experience including high school classroom teaching through co-op placements as well as mentoring several robotics teams including my former high school's FRC team. Your application looks really strong too, so hopefully we'll both get it; MT seems to be a really good program (although the political landscape isn't great for teachers right now). brokenbruised
Wow, I feel woefully inadequate in the volunteer dept. right now. I only had 240 hours at the time of application (volunteered with five English classes at a TDSB secondary school). Applied for I/S English and Social Sciences. Got my Bachelors from U of T (Specialist: English, Minor: Cinema Studies) and worked as a cook/chef in restaurants for a decade before applying to OISE this year. My CGPA is terrible (under 3.0), but final year GPA is 4.0. I know I'm a long shot but I had to try. Basically f*ed up my life back when I was doing my bachelors and only now am trying to pick up the pieces :). Also applied to York and UOIT (so trying to stay local). You two (above) sound like you are shoe-ins!

I'm pursuing a BA in communication studies and got accepted to the P/J stream. I received an interview for MACSE as well so I think I probably had a strong statement of intent along with my experience profile because my GPA was not very competitive. AwareGnome
Hey there, To all those that have applied to the MT program at U of T/ OISE, have you heard anything yet? Best of luck to eveyone!
AwareGnome
Still waiting on a reply. However, I got accepted to Western University's and OntarioTech's BEd programs so I have my hopes up, but I have my safety nets set up in case I don't get into OISE. Its awesome to see so many of you are getting your acceptances into P/J! My final year GPA is a 3.8/4.2 (cGPA 3.0/4.2) and I have over 2000 hours working with children with exceptionalities in an after school program and as a student physical education teacher. I applied for the J/I and I/S MT programs with my specializations in Health & Physical EDucation and Science-Biology.
Kukuudas
Haven't heard back yet! I have a poor GPA tho, like a 76% with 1500+ of teaching experiences but mostly private tutoring and teaching. What are your teachable? I heard that they're sending out acceptances already. Super nervous! AwareGnome
Datawraith
I just got my acceptance to MT I/S today too! Congrats on those who got in (and I guess I'll see you all in September), and good luck to those still waiting! AwareGnome

My school (Waterloo) didn't calculate in terms of GPA but I had a 4th year average of 82% in mechanical engineering, so naturally I specialized into Physics and Math. sk8erlim
Hi guys, it’s slightly off topic but has anyone also applied to tyndale b.ed, got accepted, and paid deposit? I’m waitlisted at tyndale and wanted to know if there were people who paid deposit but would drop out when other schools of their priority accept them. Thank you :))
Shamash
Hi all, So I submitted my application super late. I made the payment on the 7th of Feb, but submitted all my documents on 5th of March. Do you think that's severely dented my chances of getting in? I've got around 2000 hours of relevant teaching experience, a B+ CGPA in my final year, and a Master's degree with an A- CGPA in my final year. kaur96
I got in the MT program on Feb 6, which is super exciting.Congratulations to those who also got accepted. For those who are still waiting don't loose hope. You got this! Does anyone know where I can find affordable rooms off campus? My current budget is $600-1000 and hope to live closer to campus. I'm already looking at all the fb pages for room rentals and Uoft's website too. Let me know if you guys know any other place I should look at. I will say that affordable housing and close to campus in downtown Toronto are two concepts that don't work together unfortunately. I think your best bet is to find housing around a nearby TTC station on Line 1 and do a short commute to school.
