Here is a link to the April 15th Resolution by the Council of Graduate Schools. https://cgsnet.org/april-15-resolution

In general from what I have heard, schools have a very limited number of funded positions so they accept their favorite candidates first and then a few of those applicants likely reject the offer and the institution moves on to the students on the wait list like Jash was saying.

However, it is kind of considered in really poor taste for these high level applicants to hold on to the acceptances any longer than necessary. IF someone is accepted at their 5th school and then hears back from the 4th as well and both have April 15th deadlines then the applicant is supposed to decline the offer from number 5. It helps both the school who can then move on and hopefully still get a pretty solid candidate as well as the wait listed students that are waiting to hear back. If the candidate waits all the way till April 14th though, there is not really enough time to do this.

Hi, did any OB applicants hear from PSU, UNC and Rutgers?

I have an interview with PSU this week. They notified me via email last week.

It seems that Columbia already sent out interview invites for Quant Marketing? Can anyone confirm this so I can make up my mind ?. Columbia is the only one I'm waiting for at the moment.

I was waiting on Columbia quant marketing as well. Saw on Grad Cafe a post indicating interview, which is what I assume you are referring to? Do you know if Stanford sent out interviews? It seems like Chicago Booth sent out interviews?

I'm glad to find this thread. I am also an OB applicant for Fall 2020. I applied to Stanford GSB, USC-Marshall, and UC-Irvine Merage. Has anyone heard anything from the OB programs?

I think that I might have been accepted to Stanford because I saw a message that said "Congratulations on your admissions..." in my application portal, but it was gone the next day. In response to my call to Admissions, I got an email response that said decisions haven't been released yet. And I've been getting emails from Irvine's FA department that say my FAFSA had been processed, but say that their email doesn't mean that I have been admitted. (I guess they set up FA accounts for everyone?)

Anyway, I'm on pins and needles. This wait is agonizing!!!

My friend and I also got "Congratulations on your admissions...". I think it is just an error.

Hi, I just finished my interview with two faculty members. They are interviewing shortlisted applicants and told me that the final decision will be made few weeks later (around late Feb? early March?) . In the meantime, additional interviews could be arranged with other faculty members. That means, I guess, the longlisted applicants may have to wait for a month to hear any (positive) update.

Hi! I also finished my interview with GIT. They are saying that they will meet and make decisions this week????? But I'm not sure if this is the decision for final acceptances or for the second-round interview since your interviewers said few weeks later.  Have you heard from them then?

I'm not sure about OB, but I know that GeorgiaTech would have an on-campus fly-out stage after the interview for Marketing, at some time this month. Maybe the decision would be about fly-out invites?

Hi! Thank you for sharing the information! I think you might be right! But for OB, I heard from one of my friends saying that last year they had on campus visits AFTER being accepted. But this might change every year! For my interview, they didn't mention anything about campus flyout (but I didn't ask either, so this is probably why :)).

I think my interviewers meant the final decision. They also said that additional skype interviews could be arranged if needed. I guess the process is different for domestic students vs. international students? (my case = international)

Well its been an interesting week already, as my 1 application has been converted to 1 interview and 1 acceptance. This has been a long journey from when I had first considered doing a PhD ~5 years ago back when I started my MBA, and I hadn’t expected such a quick decision! They had hinted I was on the short list during the interview which surprised me a little, but I had put a lot of effort into indicating their program was a my priority. Now I wonder if I should have applied broader to a couple stretch schools, ugh. Anyone here get admitted (or at least get an interview) with GMAT scores fairly well below (say 50 pts or so) the program’s advertised averages? For instance, my score was in the mid 600s, and the stretch school I didn’t bother even applying to has advertised averages of ~700-720, and my score was 30-40 pts below what the admissions rep had deemed as “competitive”.

GRE V 93%ile, Q 90%ile, W...mediocre & GPA 3.7~3.8/4.0

By the way, congratulations on your admission!

Thanks! Those are very impressive number. I am just going to say that I am very grateful to get an acceptance from an R1 school that won’t require a relocation for me and my family.

Don't know what field you applied for, but for Quant Marketing, I believe a GMAT below 700-720, or GRE Q < 168/169 would be a desk-reject at most top 30 schools.

I’m talking more in the 50-75 range.

Hi all,

Do any micro OB ppl happen to know any update about MIT Sloan or Chicago Booth?

Thanks ^-^

I haven't heard any updates, online or offline. Judging from previous years, both could come out any minute now.

Yes,  I was interviewed by Booth the other day. Sloan I haven't heard from. I've been interviewed by everybody I applied to but Wharton who flat out rejected me so stay hopeful about Sloan!

Congrats! I took the GRE and was shy of what several schools that interviewed me posted as their average. That said I don't have any acceptances (or rejections for that matter). Take from it what you will.

Thanks! I kind of assumed if I would have gotten an interview at this other program I wouldn’t have been a strong contender anyway.
