@voxpop @ciwy13 @taketwo @MA2596 congrats on your acceptance into ITP! Are you guys considering to accept the offer?

I am very strongly considering it and leaning towards ITP! I just want to wait to hear back from all schools before making a decision. My Parsons portal is not updated yet, but the SVA portal now says my status is admitted, so I will be giving that very serious consideration as well!

Just checked the SVA application portal and found that the status has been changed to "Decision will be sent via mail and email",

and shows "Your Enrollment Steps" on the side.! Looks like the decision has been made but no email yet....

Applied to MFA Interaction Design.

Me too! I’m hopeful that means we’re in but no email yet either...

My application status is still in "Your application will be reviewed" I hope that I am not the only one in this status.. It makes me feel a bit nervous! I applied to SVA Interaction D, too.

@the-panda-ninja and @UXGuy, have you heard back from IUB? I too gave my interview in the first week of February and haven't heard back from them since then.

I haven't heard back yet. Last year, they published the admission decisions around March 13th. So, I hope they will send the email this week or the beginning of next week.

I got accepted IUB yesterday, checked the portal! Does anyone know about this school? I did not know much about this program so I curious about its students' reviews or reputation things...

@MA2596 I was unclear on the difference between MFA and MPS. Does the MPS degree mean you cannot teach after, at least for a MFA program?

I have never heard of a "rule" that qualifies you to teach or not... That is completely individual, I'm sure if anything a PhD is preferred but some of the most successful people in the the world don't even have degrees. It's not like Steve Jobs would have be denied to teach at a university (just to exaggerate). :)

Just got my SVA IxD acceptance email too! I'm so excited, they're my top choice school. ? @voxpop

Yay, congrats!!!! (haha your name subtly gives it away) :D

I really have some serious thinking to do now and still want to wait till I hear from Parsons before making any decision. Scholarships also plays a role for me, and I know SVA wont give any. NYU did, so they are a better choice for me financially right now - a lot of things in play that I now need to consider. But feeling really grateful and fortunate to be in such a privileged situation!

MPS is more towards learning a practical skills for a certain industry, it's usually taught by industry experts so it works best for people who are set on working in the industry. Grabbed this from Google: " In short, MPS is limited to a narrower band of education with a focus on practical skills rather than research."

MFA is more open-ended and is concept and research-based, which I think better translated into teaching? Most of my professors from my BFA program hold a MFA, and many MFA students I met went on to work and/or teach on the side. They all have varying strengths and design styles, and all of them have very good critical thinking and research skills, but they do not specialise in one specific area. Teaching MFA requires you to be open, experimental and flexible, while MPS is also experimental but more focused and specialised (i.e. many people applied to NYU ITP knowing that they want to code/program/etc.)

Not that I'm discounting any MPS degree holders, if you want to teach, as long as you're good I'm pretty sure you can do it with either degree. :) But it seems like MFA are preferred.

On another note, still no info on Parsons.......

My Parsons portal was finally updated today! (did not receive email yet). I did not have an interview but still received a merit scholarship.

Really happy! Now it˙s time to really deliberate where to go... Truly wishing I could just go everywhere, both ITP, DT and SVA IxD has their unique strengths and are amazing in their own ways.

@ixdmfaplease @MA2596 @Sids @voxpop congratulation everyone! i got into nyu itp with scholarship and parsons dt with no scholarship. I think I might still go with parsons though. I dont have any cs or coding bg.

@A Bawa Thank you, and congrats to you too!

I was leaning towards NYU ITP since it's different from my BFA, but Parson's scholarship is very tempting. I also don't have cs or coding background :)

What are you planning to do, and what made you favor Parsons? Just curious :)

Hello everyone

Congratulations to everyone on their acceptances! :D

I also got my Parsons DT acceptance today with 50 percent scholarship on tuition fee. Unfortunately I still find Parsons to be very expensive given how high living expenses in NYC can be. I was wondering how everyone here is planning to fund their studies if you choose to accept. And how much scholarship has everyone been offered by Parsons, if I may ask. Also, is it possible to appeal/bargain for higher scholarship? (I am sorry if I come across as crude, it's my first time applying to grad school)

I am worried I might have to decline their offer if I figure I would end up with substantial debt.

Congratulations again on your acceptances everyone! :)

Hey! Congrats for getting accepted at IUB. I also received the admit on March 16th with scholarship and a paid TA position. I guess they will be conducting multiple webinars in the coming weeks to talk about IUB and the program. Check them out for details.

Hi, I've been accepted to NYU ITP with scholarship but I'm still waiting for SVA IxD. The application portal still says 'ready for review'. Does this mean that I am rejected or waitlisted? This is keeping me so nervous because I can't make decisions... Is anybody still waitng for results?

Same here. My application status is 'ready for review,' too. I have to make a decision by the end of March, so I feel anxious to get SVA's decision... I emailed to ask my admission process and state a few days ago, but there's no reply yet. Well... let's see! I will update if I get any news.

How's the decision-making process going for everyone?

Haha thanks for asking, it's so much more difficult than I had anticipated!

At this time I have almost ruled out SVA ixd, mainly because it is the more expensive option for me at the moment and I personally feel drawn toward taking a leap of faith into something a bit more "experimental". If for sure seems like the best option from a career-oriented perspective if the goal is to go straight into an interaction/UX-design type of role. It has an amazing list of alums and professors.

So its down to DT and ITP for me, currently really leaning towards ITP but I only feel that I am at 40/60 percent certainty. Parsons has been my dream school, but I also know that is strongly driven by the fact that they are experts at marketing - so I am not trying to look beyond that and select the program that is best for me. I am drawn to ITP for its extremely customizable and diverse curriculum (able to really specialize in topics that interests and inspire me), and I have this very good feeling about the vibe and mission of the program being very strongly aligned with my own views. I enjoyed reading this article (written by an ITP alum): https://tarikh.me/itp-at-40-red-burns-created-a-program-youve-probably-never-heard-of-to-save-technology-s-soul-a767eb7e565b
