Hi guys!?

Congratulations to everyone on their acceptances!?

I've been accepted to SVA's IXD and IIT's MDES with scholarship.
Does anyone know about these two programs? Which one is better?

Would love to hear more about IXD vs MDES.

Hi DIUDIU! Did you make a final decision? Both schools are on my list too and I am still considering between them, so I'm curious about your thought.

Hi everforever, actually I haven’t decided yet and I ’m more inclined to SVA's IXD now.

I can share with you the information and ideas I found.

1. The teachers of these two projects are very good, on top of that there are limited students around 20, I think that is very suitable for the growth of designers. Sva's teachers are great professional designers. ID's teachers are also very powerful, like the author of Ten Type of Innovation, Larry Keeley-the president of design innovation consulting company Doblin, etc.

2. The location of these two projects is perfect. There are many opportunities in New York and Chicago.

3. Sva's IXD is very focused on interaction design, while ID is more biased towards design theory. If your aim is to become an interaction designer, Sva's IXD is more suitable for you. If you are more interested in design theory and have work experience, IIT's ID is more suitable for you.

4. Tuition fees for both programs are very expensive. Sva is in Manhattan and the living cost is higher than in ID.

The followings are why I prefer Sva now:

1. I have no work experience, so I guess many theoretical concepts may not be easier to understand and use;
2. I went to see the alumni's LinkedIn. The work of Sva's alumni are more in line with my future goals, and their portfolios are more attractive to me, some projects are great!

And ID gave me a lot of scholarships, and the cost is more economical.

So I am still considering, what's your opinion about the 2 programs?

Hi Diudiu! sorry for the late response. I had been considering various aspects of both schools, and finally, I decided to go to IIT. The first reason for my decision is that I have work experience (as you referred above), and have what I specifically want to train from the UX process; and IIT has a better fit for that. I heard that SVA IxD is also a good place to prepare to hop in UX jobs!! Congrats again and I hope to see you in the field soon!

Hi everforever, that's OK.
Thank you and congratulations on your decision too!
As you say so, I believe IIT is the best choice for you, the teachers there are absolutely wonderful!
I wish you the best in your studies and maybe one day we could grab a coffee and chat more.
